OK its time to have a laugh...

I bought a shaved and polished rocker cover some time ago and it 'was' nice and shiny and bling :D . However, I noticed it still had some caked on oil and grime on the underside from the previous owner so today I decided to give it a clean with some stuff I had in the garage that is a degreaser/soap type liquid used for cleaning parts. I proceeded to pour a little of the stuff into a bucket then added some hot water and walked away to let it soak in a nice and foamy spa. 20 minutes later I return to find some bastard had broken into my garage and did the ol' switcharoo on me! [sarcasm] Where did my nice and shiny rocker cover go? bahahaa

The cleaning solution stripped the polished surface off it and now I need to have it repolished. I tried to use Autosol to clean it up from here but it didnt work. Do I basically have to wet'n'dry it from scratch? or can anybody here do it for a $$ fee?

i'd be pissed off if that happened to me..
 naaa, its the same polished rocker cover, I was being sarcastic. The cleaning solution stripped the polished surface off it. At least the grime's gone :)

Ohhhh hahaha geez i'm so slow.. that's so funny.. that stuff must've been so strong to do that..
wat did it look like before?

Ouch..

I'll make you feel better.
I spent over 2 hours per day for 2 weeks grinding and polishing a cover by hand, I lent it to now my ex-boss to do some engraving, but we had a falling out and he destroyed it.

 seriously? all that hard work for nothing. yeah I spent a couple of hours working on it just before I soaked it. I got the emery cloth out to remove some deep scratches and crevices that were noticeable and polished it back some more with autosol and was happy with it. It DID look like this \/ \/ \/ before the above happened.

Na it'll have to get poilished again!!!

Nice one!

I remember this guy from my old work who put degreaser on his brand new chrome 18's, and he almost cried when they looked all milky and un-chromed afterwards!!

Thats one bad ass exhuast manifold!.

Can someone tell me whats the reason with those custom intake manifolds were number 1 cylinder has a wedge end and number 4 has a bigger plenum size. What does this do to airflow, does number 1 cylinder get lean or anything.

Probably to do with the speed and angle of the air flowing into the furthest away ports?

Mikey (NERVIS - V6 Lancer) made the steampipe manifold for me with a 45mm external wastegate adapter and long merge collector. Its the only one of its kind and it come out awesome! I then had the manifold and Garret turbine housing ceramic coated black 8)

oh, forgot to give an update on my dead rocker cover - I gave it to Jeremy from www.frictionworx.com to work his wonder and it turned out like mirror finish again. Also got him to weld in some -8AN fittings on it for a breather, revamp my intake manifold, and polish up my billet Holley fuel rail as well. All I can say is the guy does an AWESOME job! I will take pics when I decide to take them out of the glad wrap fully

Yep, but it gave me a good reason to get some other bits polished at the same time, plus a chance to get the breather connections welded in too  How do they say it... every cloud has a silver lining? (apart from the lining in my pocket, its non existent)

Rob also took my cover to Jeremy to get done, here is what mine looks like :) with -6AN fittings welded on

Once its all polished up, take it to someone that does anodising and have them put a clear seal coat on it, that way you won't have to keep polishing out fingerprints etc.
