where do I fit a oil temp sensor

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

This is something I've been wondering myself, I've read that some Cyborg's have an oil temp sensor on the sump plug. So I'm wondering if a brass water temp sensor with the same thread as the sump plug could be used. On the back of the temp sensor there's a clip, connect the temp guage wire to that.

But I'm only guessing..

on the oil filter housing you should see the stock oil pressure sensor.

if you look closely around that area, you will noticed some hex plugs. if i recall there should be two of them.

anyway, that is where you mount any new oil pressure or temperature sensors.

you can just see them in this picture

they are the hex things pointing towards the left of the box.

I couldn't be bothered to get under the car, so I whacked mine in the head. This is on a vr4, don't know if its the same on yours, but worth a look.

Good luck with that, you will need to heat the housing up with a blow torch to be able to get the plugs out. Otherwise, you will probably just burr the hexagonal recess in the plugs (like I did  ).

"stuck" is an understatement. And i was using the proper hex drive sockets and eveything, even removed the cross member to get good access to it. Maybe it just wasn't my lucky day :)
