Ok, so I have just installed a short shifter on my CC GSR, which I bought back in June, much better, really shortened the sideways movement, (lengthened lever arm) but back and forth has only been shortened because the stick is shorter. What I would really like to have is my nice new shortened sideways throw with a similar amount of shortening on the back and forth throw with a standard length stick (which means a raised pivot point).

So I have gone back through all the old threads on short shifters and come up with two possibilties for units that are still listing, these being:

Shifteaz @ http://www.shifterz.co.nz/index.php?route=product/category&path=76_88

or

X Racing Motorsport @ http://xracing.com.au/body-styling/mitsubishi/mitsubishi-lancer-cc-4dr-1992-1996-short-throw-shifter/

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with either of these ?

The other thing I could do is just raise the base plate 20 to 30 mm (to raise the top of the stick to the OE position), has anyone done this under the standard console ?

XRacing has shut down :D

Well Jack still has a few parts but limited stock, give him a call and you may get it cheaper if he has any in stock

I'm pretty sure mine is the same as the X-Racing shifter. If it is, it was designed for a Proton that has a different ball and socket joint at the bottom of the shifter. I had to modify mine somehow (cant remember) to get it to work.
In fact I was even thinking about taking mine out and going back to stock lol

I've got the one EVO00X is talking about, I fitted it for a week or so then took it out.
No use to me anymore, happy to let it go for minimal cash if you want to try it out without spending a lot on a shifter?

It tended to come loose, I stuffed around with it for a while and tried lock tighting it but ended up giving up and swapped back to stock.
Just cut an inch off my stock shifter in the end.
When it was in the shifts were insanely short. Just lost patience with it

Ok, here is the photo

Does the bottom of the stick look the same as your short shifter Vince?

This is the standard GSR gear stick, the same as my current short shifter, which has really short left/right movement (this is really good) but still a bit too much back and forth.

That's excellent, thanks EVO-00X, finally making sense on how it all bolts together. Now, I just need to work out if the ball and socket are the same; if so I will make Vince an offer!

BTW, what is making you think of going back to stock ?

From memory mine looks the same as that one.
I'll grab is from the shed today and try to get a pic up.

Oh not because its crap or anything lol, I was thinking about it to compare the difference between it and a stock throw.
My shift atm feels notchy and you have to be pretty spot on with the shifts. It's contributed to the fact that I have a rebuilt gearbox and trying to shift a big single h/duty clutch at 8000rpm.
Ive got a twin plate clutch to put into it at a later date, but I wanted to compare the difference first before putting it in to see if it was shifter related or not.
