hey guys just need help on choosing my turbo upgrade the tdo4 to tdo5

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Mitsubishi/Engines/auction-312120966.htm

if i were to get one of these and upgrade my tdo4 does my turbo manifold stay or should i upgrade it aswell?
if my original turbo manifold doesnt need to change will one of these tdo5 just bolt straight on? because i still dont have a clue with first link how it can fit in such a cramp place?
also where should i get a front mount intercooler from its pretty hard to get a original from the hypergear? where in melbourne can i get one...

you will nee to change your TD04 exhaust manifold, or atleast port it out to match the turbine entry of the TD05H

second turbo wont work either, as its for a later model EVO and has the twin entry exhaust housing

I would say it's a first turbo that wont work.
Second is good but need modification to bolt to suit pipework. Also, tdo4 has the smaller bolts on oil and water lines so you need the tdo5 lines and bolts or port the small from tdo4 and use water banjo bolt for oil and buy a bigger one for water. :)
BTW: you should get better exhaust mani for tdo5 if you can.

I dont know what you do more, breath or talk about steve much 25g's lol. gotta love it.Why do they call a grand national wheel a 25g, coz people know "G" series wheels, i even seen a 60-1 wheel called a 25g.

Grand National wheel is actually different to a 25g which is similar to a 60-1

hey thanks for that guys woah tdo5/06 25g man i don have the money for that haahahah.... so is it the 1st one or the second one is better ill say vr401 seems correct with it cheers guys

wait what about this one??? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Mitsubishi/Engines/auction-311999636.htm

Dont go buying a Turbo yet.. ;)

I'm in the process of talking to Kando about getting an RVR Orientation Big16G with 20G Wheel. If this works out, we'll have a direct bolt on option for us. With a downwards outlet (which suits most as they do a FMIC conversion.

So does that mean I will have to do my ic piping again

And to stay on topic first turbo wont work looks like it's off a evo 4 5 or 6

Hanging to hear more about this one Matt!! I'll definitely be on the list if you happen to organise a group buy or something similar :D

I know the discussion is sort of dead, but the first link you posted is a tdo5hr, the 'R" meaning the orientation of the exhaust and compressor wheel is reversed, ie, it wont fit. The bolt pattern on the exhaust housing is different too.

The second one is far too rusty to be quality; low (insert material whos name I cannot remember) steel. I have a mitsi tdo4 that's been sitting in my shed for ages (it's damp), and I have ported it, exposing bare steel. It still hasn't oxidised and I ported it over 2 years ago.
It's probably not a big deal but really, if they make the housing out of crap material, whos to say they took the time to balance the rotating assembly properly.

Oh yeah, and a good point that someone else made, if you have a TD04 you will need the oil and water lines. Or, just run the oil lines but get a larger outlet. You'd need to replace your exhaust manifold, or at least port it.

Don't discount buying a turbo from the US, the turbo in my galant is a modified small 16g, I got it for 200 bucks and shipping was only 140. I ported the housing to match my dump and manifold (free) and had it ceramic coated, and it spools great and netted me 165 awkw at 12 psi, with a boost leak. Most ebay sellers who say they wont ship overseas just dont want to ship to europe, they're generally ok with australia/nz so long as you have decent feedback and don't sound like an obvious scammer.

Just as a note :

That's a fake turbo (see how theres a threaded bolt on the wastegate actuator?).

I had a look on ebay and theres nothing genuine right now, but if you're in no great rush keep your eye out. Assuming Matt's work with Kando doesn't pan out :D
