car is running good done just over 2000klms on new motor it has rebuilt turbo too! but is blowing smoke out of exhaust when put foot down or just take off normally have been checking oil and its fine..
Whats the problem??? any help would be appreciated

What sort of smoke?

Black smoke = fine. (unless its pouring out) Just means its running a lil rich. Mitsis like to run a tad rich anyway.

Blue or white smoke (or a mixture of the two) = Uh oh!

well its not black at all!!!
there is oil coming out exhaust but not much i really need help on this dont wanna drive the car at all and thats all i really want to do??
if car has been rebuilt with new turbo and motor is this a normal factor??
what if it has too much oill??
it is just oon full on the oil stick??
sorry im really desparate for som information?

Take it back to your engine builder and tell him to replace the seals rather than reuse the old ones. Turned your engine into an oilpit.

Warranty job.

IIRC, this is the second time this engine has been rebuilt??

Take it back to them and see what the deal is, then if your uncertain, take it somewhere else for a second opinion

yes it would be warranty job but dont think they would be happy in the end i just wanna drive me car!! So you think engine seals are stuffed??
where are they in motor sorry i know a bit but not that much?

Lets face it, theres plenty of places that oil could be leaking from. Lets not try and give the poor guy a heart attack too quickly!!!

im starting to get over it!!
car has been nothing but hassles since i got it back on the road!!
i cant even sell it cause who would buy a stuffed car??
im so frustrated

i'll keep you all posted on what happens?? i have checked car and only place oil is coming from is exhaust no other leaks that can be seen on outside of motor?? will take it back again on monday and hope for the best

Are you monitoring it to see if you are actually losing oil? I know that sometimes after an engine/turbo has blown headgasket/seals previously it coats the inside of the exhaust system with oil so when the engine gets rebuilt and runs, smoke comes out the back of the exhaust because there's still fresh oil inside the exhaust system burning away - giving the impression that the new engine is burning oil. What was the reason for the engine rebuild?

motor threw a rod and punched 2 holes in engine block!!
not my fault the pistons weren/t touqued properly so after about 900klms was dead.
but since then got new block and full rebuild with forged pistons
repairer said might blow smoke for a while but its had first service and ive done just over 2000k's how long should it take to get all the excess oil out of exhaust???
i might be a bit paranoid but i just don/t wanna risk driving it and it fu*kin up on me

is the car idling okay? any other symptons other then oil coming out of exhaust? do you mean actual oil dripping out? or smoke?

I would have thought that it would only blow smoke until the rings are bedded in which should only take about 50 km (depending on the typre of rings they used).

oil is splurting out really slowly when idling
in little spots if ya cover exhaust with hand.
am i being paranoid people???

Does it still do this after everything has warmed up (say after 15 minutes), if so that will rule out condensation in the exhaust. Is it definately oil and not water?

Oil - possible blown oil seal on turbo, will blow shit loads of white/ grey smoke under boost.

Water - (head gasket, cracked block/ head) - smoke/ steam will probably dissapear under boost.

How did you drive those first 2000km? Long drives? short trips to the shops?

I take it you drove it pretty easy after the last rebuild :)

If there is oil in the exhause from the blown motor and you have been driving it pretty soft for the past 2000km it may be that the oil has only just made its way to rear of the exhaust system and started spitting out.

Has it done it the whole time since the latest rebuild? the spitting?

My car spits black muddy dirt in the mornings when its cold, which is condensation in the exhaust+carbon and shit from the engine running rich. It also blows smoke in 2nd gear and only second gear which leads me to believe its just running rich and its all unburnt fuel.

It could be a head gasket, A mate rebuilt a Fiat Twin Cam 4 times due to a blown head gasket!!! With the Fiat there is not much room between the cylinders and the water journal always leaks if its not seated PERFECTLY. This could be the case with your motor, but you would notice rough idling/running, bubbles in the radiator when engine running.

Whats your coolant level like?

That could be another thing, if the head gasket has gone, there is excess moisture in the exhaust causing more black gunk to spew out the end as its flushed clean.

Something like that would be repaired for free by the builder, especially if they didn't have the head machined before rebuilding.

Don't think the worst mate, its more than likely something simple!
