Hi guys. Im curious if anyone has swapped window motors in their window regulators before.Rear drivers side window hasnt worked for a while and had a look at it yesterday. I tested everything with multimetre and found the motor to be faulty. I pulled the motor off the regulator pretty easily. Have checked around and only seem to be able to find the whole assembly to replace. As the mechanism is in pretty good nick id prefer to just replace the motor. I was thinking of hitting the wrecking yard to see what i can find just wondering if anyone had replaced these parts new before??

its only a motor, and you wont lose out, so pull it apart and try fixing it.
may be only brushes, or bearings.

it bet its a pretty standard mitsi motor they use, so prob available in every thing mitsi from 1990- 2000. from magna to pajero. also maybe a different housing but maybe the same armature?

im sure a few of the guys here would have one in their shed and you could swap it into your mechanism

motor unit is pretty well sealed up as i had thought of trying to fix it. feels like brushes and bearings are toast. i was thinking alomg similar lines with the common mitsi thing thanks for the heads up

I wonder if you found anything more on this. Ive pulled apart my passenger side as the window would go down not up, checked power on both sides of the circuit whilst operating the switch and getting 12volt either side

thought It may have been the slide mechanism etc but I greased it up and still no good

pulled the regulator / motor apart and still abit lost

if I wire the motor the opposite way the motor does infact come up. so I imagine the regulator is stuffed and wont accept current both ways. But looking at it , it has not shorted across the posts and brushs seem to be intact, the fact that I can reverse the polarity and she works means the brushs have a good contact onto the armature.

my question is what other tests can I do?

not really wanting to spend $150 on a new window motor, surely someone knows what else carries the same motor?

I did my friends hyundai the other day. Pull the winder setup out and run power to the motor. It should go up. Reverse polarity on the wires and it should go down.
If this works the motor should be fine.

If it does this, put it back in the door and run power to it, forward and reverse polarity.
If this makes the window go up and down, then the mechanism and the motor is fine.

Then it is the switch.

Is it the drivers window? If passengers, check you are getting power and kiddy lock is off. Swap a rear door switch into it to test.

It is the switch that reverses the polarity to the motor. Test the outputs on the switch, that they swap the polarity correctly with a multi meter.

Its probably the switch.
A proton one works as I tested one in bmgtz car. They are gray not black but you can swap the fascia and buttons if your switch doesnt have broken tabs. (And thats the reason you windows wont work)

Edit. Sorry I see you said passenger side.

Just need to make sure you are getting power over to thedoor switch. And swap aarear switch in to test.

Like I said got 12v either side when switching.

Any info on the motor ie replace with ...
You also said that it powers down when you hardwire it.
Does it power up also when hardwired?

Edit. I really need to read your post properly.

It powers down. It powers up when hardwired.
Id say its the earth side of the switch.
Or the earth after the switch, but that should be shared.

Poke the rear door switch in it.

Have a go....
Cause if so, maybe its the earth side of the switch, because it needs to switch both wires over, not just the power.

Pretty hard to test the armature without a growler. Can only test its not shorted to the core.

...army "FRED"

Haha. Haven't heard that for a while! Fucking ridiculous eating device. Not much better than those fucking stupid hexamine tablets for heating up water in a breeze in anything stronger than a fart.
