Went down to get gas and car wouldnt start again
turns over and tries to fire and kicks but wont start
had to tow it home...get two goes at firing then the plugs clog up
just turns over after that wont fire
replaced spark plugs made no difference
battery is all good
thinking it might be the ecu again but wouldnt think it would fire???

any ideas
dont have a logger

do your standard check.
are all the plugs in the main engine wiring loom plugged into the accessories and hasnt fallen off?
does it have spark?
does it have fuel?
do you have an alarm system? (immoboliser)

thats the first few things u should check on,

Jon

It cranks over and won't fire. Where did u get petrol. There are some really bad petrol out at the moment. Had a mate fill up last night and broke down 5 times on the way home. Take out some fuel and smell it. My mates didn't even smell like petrol.

Other things to check are coil pack, crank angle sensor, ignitors. I had this problem earlier this year. Mine was the power to the ecu. But that was a custom instalation of a ggsr engine in a cc coupe. The clutch had pulled through the firewall and had shorted out the power cable to ecu

What ecu? Is the fuel pump running? As above, do your standard check. Look for any issues with fuel (pump, injectors) or spark (coils, ignition module).

still had 1/4 tank of fuel before went to put gas in
only put 10 buks in, started and went fine on the way there

cant hear the walbro whinnning as much as usual
but theres fuel getting through pissed out over the engine bay
when i turned it over
ecu is a single board with a chip from razza

thanks for the replies guys
thinking of making a gadget to do a diagnosis using the old vfag morse code beep test

If your getting both fuel and spark, it would indicate that all the above is working.

How have you diagnosed each of the above anyway?

I vote for a dead ecu temperature sensor. The ecu will be thinking that the engine temp is about -40 and will be making it rich as hell to try to start it.
Grab one from a Hyundai and see if it helps. It's the 2 pronged one on the front of the thermostat housing.

Gat an electrical buzzer from Jaycar this morning ( 3.95 )
Did the diagnostic test as per vfaq...
constant beep=ecu
had a problem with it a while back got the capacitors done
opend the casing all looks fine nothing i can see anyway
whatever this lil box is that mounts near the ecu at the bottom of the glovebox
makes a clicking/ticking noise on and off...assuming its a relay or controller of sorts
like its cutting in and out and not feeding to the ecu
Anyone tell me what it is what it does ???

It controlls fuel pump relay and a 2 other things. Wow stretching my memory. Ha ha ha. I got the diagrams in storage. Shivers. I'll look at them and get back to u. I'm pretty sure it's fuel pump relay ignition and something else. I'll get back to u though :)

yea after googling the part number found out it was the fuel relay
im not really sure how it works so any info would be handy
anyone had problems with this before could it be why i wont start

maybe a long shot but does anyone in brisbane have a spare ecu
or a spare fuel relay i could try just to see if it is that or the ecu
car is currently in Stafford at Carls house
be very much appreciated and could sort something out for your troubles
thx

i came come iver and have a look tomorrow. i have a spare cas/igniter and coil pack. i alsi have standard pump/injectors if you want to try that.

just let me know champ.
