Going over to Melbourne Australia Day (26th) to have a look a a few Evo 7's.

Just came across this 8 as well though:

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?Cr=1&R=9934576&keywords=&trecs=10&__sid=12D9B3F26F42&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__Qpb=true&__Nne=15&SearchAction=N&seot=1&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294966896 4294964597 903 4294920624&silo=1011

The OEM frony bar on the 8's is oneof the only ways my untrained eye can pick an 8 from a 7, but this has a C-West bar instead.

How else can I tell if it's a genuine 8 from the pics?

Cheers

Really depends whats been modified, but off the top of my head, this is what changed between the 7 & 8:
Front Bar (as you know), Rims (mesh type vs 6 spoke), Rear Spoiler, Tail Lights, Recaro's (slightly), bonnet

Edit: Im also pretty sure that the 6 speed was introduced from Evo 8 onwards.

front the looks of the interior and engine bay it looks genuine to me but i wouldn't hold me to that prolly best to check it out to make sure.

Looks like an VIII to me Boosty:

- VIII Recaros
- VIII console (VII one has a different gearknob-material-thing surround)
- VIII dash (see the strip that goes through the aircon vents? VIIIs are blue, VIIs are grey)

But they're easy things to change, so the previous owner could've done that himself.

Also where is the factory snorkel to the air box??

And what Jon said re gearbox!

Evo7's
grey dash accent panel with evolution above glove box
Seat are 2 tone grey
5 speed gearbox (gear stick surround has a circle with faux fixing nuts around the bezel)
180km speedo

Evo8's
Blue dash accent panel no evolution badge above glove box
seats are Grey and Blue
6speed Jspec has the evolution resin badge infront of gearstick the leather gear stick surround is raised by the consol (this is to fit the larger 6speed shifter gate
5Speed Aspec has the evo 7 stick surround
240km speedo

You can always inquire with the buyer before hand and get the Vin PM it to me and I'll run it through CAPS
and tell you what options it came with from factory and a bunch of other very cool stuff

Keep this is mind when looking for a late model ct9a 7,8,9 if its cheap for what it is there's a very good reason for it which you will
find out after youve owned it for a while

As the say What goes Meow Meow on a roof is always a cat

BTW why the hell did they cut a hole in the dash to mount a boost gauge

check around the front of the car for repairs.
The non geuine bumper bar and no snorkel and also the non genuine intercooler pipe
may be small warning signs of a front end accident
