Hi All,

My mate is having something weird happen with his Rex and was hoping someone might have some knowledge of this.

WRX 05. Guy got in his car, put in the security pin code and started the car. The Alarm went off and he couldn't turn it off so he turned the car off, got out locked the car with the arlarm and started again.
This time no problems, 10mins later while driving car went dead. Motor shut off and all electrics died. He pulled over got out waited for about 5mins then unloced, pin code, started car and no problems. Drove home all ok, and got work with no dramas.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is it a major problem? He's know scared to drive or go cruising till he can get an explanation of what happened.. Subaru said that it was part of the immobiliser and its meant to happen every couple of hundred starts..

Tell him to ring this mob: http://www.brant.com.au/

Subaru doesn't have a god damned clue. Brant manufactured the alarm so get them to fix it.

are you losing all power?

is it just stalling?

i've experienced this but u wouldn't believe what the problem was...

the AFM...

on 4 wrx's i have experienced this...

first one, kept stalling... we thought it was the fuel pump / immobiliser
changed afm, perfect again

second one, wouldn't idle properley... thought it was an air leak, it was the afm...

third just like the first

fourth had crap idle...

its a common problem.. but note, these are all wrx's from 1995 to 2000.. not the new ones..

just get him to get suby to remove that pin thing.. they suck

Thanks for the help...
Mate rang that Brant place. They told him that its a wiring problem and that Subaru can fix it. He told him to take the car back and have them ring him direct for instructions on what to do.. He then sent Subaru an abusive Email... I love it !! Hopefully should be all fixed by next week..
