WTB: DSM Switchable Transfer Case

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Unless you have a switchable box to match it with then it won't work.
You could fit it to your box but when you disengage it the car will act as if it has a broken rear axle. i.e It WILL ruin your viscous coupling pretty fast!

Really? Bugger!

Did any of the Manuals come with a switchable transfer?

You could always lock up your centre diff so that it means that you could still use your existing box. Silly to do but if you want daily it in fwd and race in awd then it could be ok. I believe aldo has made a fwd/awd lever inside the car so no need to go under the carto switch from one to the other

Matt I told you that an electro magnetic multi clutch in the tail shaft can't hold 500nm if launched at 4k in awd.
An 800hp quarter master clutch in the tail shaft will. There's a good job for you.
Cheers !

Yeah Aldo, we need another phone call mate!

Whilst my manual is out, I'm considering FWD as the daily option, I'll speak tomorrow thought

Matt I blocked my pcs & my engine braking has jumped up mega.
The 100% pres seems to be making the convertor hold on hills a lot more.
FWD LSD at 3.5k into 2nd with only 1/2" of pedal churps 2nd gear in auto or manualy changed.
It's a shit when you have to take off in 2nd if the law is next to you..No churps.
I had to put Evo 3 full circle roll stoppers in to stop the eng-box whipping at gear changes.
Cheers !

Jesus christ matt, what are you up to!!??

The best part about these cars is full time 4WD!

Please, someone show him how to launch it properly and enough with this FWD shit!

Damn! Oh well, was just a thought Aldo.

CLuTZ, Launching isn't the issue, it's the CV's I'm worried about. The RVR's were never designed to handle 400hpaw, infact didn't Swoon break 3 gearboxes with only some light mods (albeit he drove like a nut I'm told)
My thoughts were, FWD Daily (even with the cushion button clutch) on a manual means less strain to CV's and drive shafts.

Matt if you like fwd & awd, that's up to you. Or just stick to the fulltime 4wd.
The switchable transfers are getting rare & that's the only reason I won't part with my 2.
I did sent you a link to 1 in the US months ago. They are very rare in the US.
Cheers !

I wish I had of snapped it up back then, however the new owner of my Auto would have capitalised on that and not me, so it can be seen a few ways...

FWD wheel spinning 400hp is going to thrash your shafts! Have a think about it.

You need to stop listening to stuff that "you've been told" and start recognising the facts!

These cars have unbelievably strong drivelines. If you worry about them breaking- then you're not driving the car properly!

Take a good look at this picture! This RVR is wayyyy too low- this is what you DONT want, because you will start breaking shafts

Dre I totally agree, it's too low for it's power output yes. If I was running a stock RVR for a daily and wanted it low, that's where I would be aiming though, however like you I realise what being that low does to shafts, CV's etc.
I know that if wheel-spin happens it releases the load on the cv and shaft as it takes the force of a full traction launch/gear change and allows the power and strain to be shifted to the rubber/road and outlets a substantial amount of force.

I'd love my car that low, but I know it's only killing things, more my reason for looking for a FWD option as a way to relax the strain as I have a Cushion Button Clutch.

That said, when I can afford Coil-overs and Adjustable Spring seats, I'll do all my car photos low, and probably raise it so the axles are at a straight line with the wheel/cv. ;)
I'm not as think as you seem to stupid I am.

You seem to come up with these outlandish ideas that have little to no thought behind them. Stick to what's been proven- there's a reason why certain combos work so well with these cars!

I'm interested to know how my idea's have no thoughts behind them if infact an idea is formed from a thought? :p

There is no set rules for these cars, no exact method, we all do things differently. If you don't like what I'm doing that's cool, you don't need to like it; It's not your car so it won't effect you directly.

I'd just leave it as nature intended :p
You should be able to drive a puck clutch just as easily as a stock unit.
I did for about 3 years when the VR4 was my daily.
Now I have a twin plate and it isn't any harder to drive than the puck or stock.

Haha you're starting to sound like a little kid Matt.

So you're saying that if I bought an R34 GTR and put an RB20 in it and made it FWD, then that's cool because it's my car and I can do what I want with it?

We're all for giving friendly advise etc around here, but if you're not going to take any of it on board, then don't bother asking for it. You're starting to turn into FLYBYUGSR!

Yep! That's exactly it.
If you like it, and it's your car who cares what others have to say for it. If you enjoy doing it and you've done it for a reason then why not!
