WTB: Evo 1-3 strut bracing

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

In regards to the Ultra Racing Fender braces - are they different between Coupe(Proton) and Sedan? I'm thinking I'll get a pair and then have them repilcated in chromoly.

Same bars.

If you are thinking of the fender bars, you will notice where the front bolts on is only a thin panel. To plug weld a plate inside there to beef up the front fender bar mount, I think would be benificial. Imo.
You will see when you bolt them in, its only a single thickness of 0.8mm sheet. It you welded a plate like in the 2nd bottom pic above, then bolted the bar to it would be great.

Yes, that ^^^^^
Much better if you weld a plate in there where the 2 bolts go through.
The fender bar basically stops any up and down and forward and backward movement (not so much side to side), so the thin plate wouldn't be under too much stress. However whilst the fender is off and you have access to a welder, you might as well do it anyway.
For mine I put a plate inside the chassis that the bolts went through and then used nyloc nuts.
If you ever look at the oem fender braces on a Subaru WRX, they are only thin. Let me see if I can dig a pic up.
It's better to have something rather than nothing.

I've just ordered a pair of the Ultra Racing fender braces and am going to look to have them replicated in titanium (let's see what the costs look like....!)

Will definitely look at the reinforcement side of things on the car itself too.

Sorry its taken a while but I broke my phone (only net access I have) but just went and got another 1 this morning, ill throw pics up in the next 10-15, ill also show the rear splitting,

can ya'll see it? lucky I dont ever see my car being sold cos this would probly put some of the prissy type off, lol

Mines the same, on both sides too I think. Lowered hard coil overs do speed up the issue, my car didn't have cracks there when I bought it but does now. I'm gonna weld the split and get fender braces and maybe make up some sort of strut tower to firewall support or modify my strut brace to tie into the firewall as well

Shayne, for the coupes my brother and I are going to order the lower side bars as well that go under the car.
I've noticed with coupes, because of the large door jam, our cars bend when you jack up the front of the cars.
I can see my sideskirt slightly bowing out when the car is jacked up so it's definitely occurring.
This is the part I'm talking about: http://www.ultraracing.my/catalog/index.php?id_product=2001&controller=product

Kyle, we can get them from Luis, a long time friend of ours and he was also a member on the coupe forum. He's the Aussie distributer for Ultra Racing in Sydney
He was good mates with my brother and I've been to his house a couple of times back when he was kicking around with the Proton Satria guys.
If he doesn't have them, he will bring them in from overseas for us no problem.

Oh, for the coupes, Fender bars and the lower side bars is a MUST have. I always knew our cars slightly bent when we jacked them up, but I didn't realise how much until I've had these sideskirts fitted.
Mikey has a number of ultra racing bars installed in his car. He's a UR slut lol

yeah after i do those under body and fender i may do the front lower frame and rear lower frame bars supposedly a full complement is nearly equivalent to a full cage

Some sweet sweet info there guys!

Shayne, titanium would be epic, but I think the same result can be achieved with Aluminium.
