Looking to purchase an Evo 2 front bar. Prefer good condition. Don't mind the odd broken tab, but no bad cracks. Don't care about paint condition, as it will get resprayed anyway. Let me know. Cheers

Ended up buying the (original) bonnet. The front bar is def EVO1-2, it has no reo or mesh and a slight ding on the front towards the passenger side of the intercooler opening.

The car itself has a bit of a rough paint job, it has the GSR interior in it, motor, intercooler setup and oil cooler setup are definitely all EVO gear. Didn't inspect it too closely, though the guy selling it seems like a nice bloke and was open to the idea of parting it out.

Thanks for that. I'll try giving him a ring tomorrow - fingers crossed.

What kind of "ding" would you say the damage to the front bar was - like a crack in the plastic? Or more like a chunk taken out of it?

Whatever the person who owns is willing to let it go for unfortunately...

As a ballpark figure, one in ok condition, but still had a few busted tabs was going for $700 at Advanced Jap in Victoria about 6 months ago.

Starting to wish I'd grabbed it back then, as they are very thin on the ground these days.

I tried via email, but got no response.

I'll try calling him today.

I saw that Evo 1 bar on GumTree. Is it just me, or does it look very "wavy" and out of shape?

Is there any actual difference between the 1 and 2 front bars?

it is very wavy and out of shape and made of fiberglass

As EVL said, it is genuine and yes it is ricks !!...

The top section is wavy because it's plastic and it has no reo behind it !!... Genuine bars are very flexible when there's no reo behind them.. most of the top section will be sorted just by putting a genuine EVO reo on it and the rest can be sorted easily with a heat gun...

The lower center section will need a little work but it's nothing that can't be fixed...

The only difference between the EVO 1 an 2 bars is the add on lower lip as far as I know...

You really don't need the reo - just use a radiator deflector panel (a Cusco or MEEK one) to support the top of the bar. The deflector panel, combined with the two fender mount points and the two lower mount points (these are push clips that go through the two moulded tabs on the bottom of the bar and into the lower Radiator Support Panel) support the bar sufficiently. I've had my EVO2 front bar mounted this way for ages and never had a problem.

The reo is really there for crash-performance, it absorbs alot of the impact and transfers it into the chassis rails. It weighs a tonne too! so removing it is a weight saving .

Dunno, just said "it's not for sale anymore". Was actually thinking about buying the whole car and doing the whole 4G63/Evo 2 drivetrain conversion as well.

Oh well. Probably saved me from my missus leaving me!!
