Hi all, I need a GSR/EVO/PROTON GTI/M21 CRANK ANGLE SENSOR ASAP. If you can help out please reply with a price :) Thanks

sensor

Just bought one last week for my e2 cost me $216 trade from global spares on the gold coast will pm my mobile no

im pretty sure there is 2 different types , optical hall effect 1 has a rising edge the other has falling edge

cheers,steve

i believe the vr4's use an optical sensor (which will work the same as hall effect..)

the later 2g CAS are HALL EFFECTS..

the later are the better...
supposably more accurate
both work the same though, both on rising edge..

sorry bro made an error in my first post

dont meen to argue but you will find if you hook up a oscilloscope to the hall effect with the vane you will find its a falling edge

and the optical with the choper disk has rising edge

and it is a falling edge because we had it hooked up to a oscilloscope , we tried to use it on a the bmw m10 we converted to wolf 3d v4 running vr4 cas and coilpacks , we kept getting a falling edge on the scope

http://wwwrsphysse.anu.edu.au/~amh110/Technical_pages/hall_sensor_trigger.htm

optical : when the disk blocks the optical light the scopes shows 0v as soon as the light passed through the tiiger hole cut in the cas disk voltage goes up to 5v rising edge

hall effect : when the sensor sees air the voltage is 5v and when the vane passes past the sensor the voltage is 0v

nah thats fine,
i personally haven't played with the one in the picture (2g cas)

i just assumed that if they were both interchangable, that they were both rising edge..

casdisk.jpg

this one is the optical one (1g cas)
it uses 2 triggers, one for crank and one for cam...
the inner is the cam, the outer is the crank

do the evo's have a crank angle sensor seperate???

anyway, have you got the wolf settings to set the ignition / injection as sequencial?

I was just looking at this picture of a 1G CAS..
the top line is the injector, the middle wave is the cam angle sensor used for sequencing the ignition/injection... the 3rd line are the fuel/ignition triggers..
.. it does look to be falling edge..

i'll have to check the setting on the wolf to see if mine is set on rising or falling...

yeh bro no probs we have access to a lazer cutter , we can get any cas trigger disk cut in any config to suit and car and i have the wolf trigger disks in stock all the time , just let me know when you need i can do cost price for team-4g customers as it is imposible to make money on these unless we get 100s cut at one time

just checked a basic startup map i have for an EVO (which are the same all the way up and VR4's also)

the wolf is set to use rising edge..

here is a pic of the initial CAS trigger settings

anyways, we have sorta gone off topic with the FS thing..
sorry evo-oox..

maybe if the mods could move the discussion part of the topic to another post...

btw, ill give you a call to discuss it with you..

it will still run

i have made the mistake of setting the wolf ecu to falling edge using a rising edge cas , the car will still start but you will phsically need move the cas sensor to compensate which im told fucks up the timing and 60 degree window the wolf needs to operate the ignition timing , so in other words what ever the wolf is set to in the programing is what it needs to see at the cas

just curious was the cas in a different position on the 2 different vehicles ie... bolt holes for the same base timing ??

i see.. makes sense..

so your disc is designed for rising or falling?
and the point is dead set on 60 degree's?
do you have the ignition / injection sequencing settings for the wolf also?

im planning on getting it tuned in a couple of weeks and was going to drill out the disc prior... good to finally discuss this with another mitsu/wolf enthusiest

:D Dont worry about me mate, Andrew at CVAP has already sorted me out with one of each. Both EVO/GSR CAS modules themselves are interchangeable and work on either engine, but the entire CAS housings are different in order to bolt onto the different heads. I'm reading what you 2 boys are going on about - carry on

the disks i have in stock are cut for the vr4 optical cas made to run rising egde
