Hey guys i'm after a laptop preferably not too old. Let me know what you've got?

If it is, then you want an old one- with a serial port

The belkin USB to serial port adapter works - but most serial devices will need you to use virtual PC as a dos emulator.

There are current model laptops that have serial, but only really dells/hp business models- retail laptops haven't had serial for quite a while.

Also you can get a pcmcia -> serial adapter, however newer laptops don't have pcmcia..

Thanks for clarifying that dave. Yeah, i've had the boot from my parents and i need a laptop since there is no pc where i am living. It's quite shame using the work computer to check emails and forums :roll:

How much do you want to spend? I work at a second hand store, I'll take a look if you want (everything is less than 2 years old here). I am in SA so I'd probably have to post it, unless you know of a better transport method.
