wtb non turbo evo 3 lookalike

wtb evo 3 lookalike for my brother, he has a commodore and is looking to get a car like myne, however he is on his p'z and cant drive turbo. he is just looking around for the moment.

any help in finding one would be apreciated.

even if theres a cheap one w/o a body kit (he wants resonable amount of kms (under 150 preferably)

well buying a complete GSR and then dropping in a Non turbo GTi engine might work aswell.

Still have AWD, just no turbo..


How much does your brother want to spend.. To be honest.. I would not bother buying a kitted out lancer, tell him to buy something like the GTi like jon's car.

yeah he saw that one, he ringing them up tonght, only set back is he has an automatic lisence, and being on his pz he needs to change over to manual and he doesnt know how to drive manual. as for buying jons car, great idea however he has no money or the knowhow to do a conversion. so that wouldnt work out. plus his gunna b using the money he gets from the vr which will be under 5000. he can add a tiny bit more if he finds something. i guess ill have to teach him manual in my car ey? lol just chucking round a few ideas and options for the moment.

tell him to look at something else. it looks good now. But the more sporty cars such as CB GSR were mainly manual.

What if he were to find a stock CC lancer 1.5l auto.. then save a bit and do it that way??

To be honest, i wouldnt be wasting my money on it, buy something cheap to run for now that he wont spend money on and then when he can go buy a new car (Off p's)

also i am unsure if rules have changed but even when you become full licensed you are locked into Auto.

its easy to learn manual and the re-test wont cost much, you can use your own car too as long as its rwc looking condition


best thing about a cb gsr, you can drop a galant 4G63 in there and it looks the same

i think just a cc lancer with an e3 kit looks try hardish...

get a cheap little proton satria xls and put an e3 kit on - would look better...

and it doesnt have to be turbo etc...

I know a guy that is just about to finish a project that he no longer wants, basicly just finishing it so it is gone and can get a little money back on it, It is a cc coupe with a proton GTI front end, dash etc, he will be painting it at the end of this week.

DO NOT buy a GL 1.5 carby Lancer... get a GLXi version instead. Trust me, I've seen it happen too many times with sedan and coupe owners making the mistake buying a GL then talk about mods and engine conversions later :roll:

Build your own in my opinion and here's an example - this is my Mrs GLXi Executive Lancer sedan. Thanks to George (DOUGMO) its now got EVO 2 black interior, dash, power windows etc, GSR seats, GSR front brakes with slotted rotors and EBC green stuff pads, new gas shocks all round, Kings lowered springs, and to top it off I stuck in a 2003 model Proton GTi engine and loom and ECU (only had 25,000kms on the motor). This car drives so quiet, smooth and easy that it feels better to drive than some new cars! All up it only owes us $6500 which is great. Its her daily for shopping, taking kids to school etc as I didnt want her to have a turbo car. She loves it because it looks the part, and still goes alright too! :wink:

if he can buy one with everything done, it would b better but $$$ wise he only works part time and doesnt earn much.

so glxi? whats a reasonable amount of kms for a non turbo one of these?
and whats the engines like? not looking to do a conversion of any type.

and how easy is it to find the e3 bodykit? he hates the blue dash, they dont come in black interior do they? its just the gsr's.......
