hey guys,

thought some of you might be interested in this.

i was starting to get some surface rust on the inside and outside of my painted mild steel intercooler pipes, so I took them off the car, since it's off the road at the moment anyway.

we stripped all of the paint off the pipes and gave them a light sanding before taking them to the electroplaters.

they then dipped the pipes in an acid bath to remove all of the surface rust and them dipped them in a zinc bath, coating them in the blue zinc finish shown in the photo below.

it only cost me $70, looks pretty nice, and will prevent the pipes from rusting. :)

looks nice bro, were you get them done? i should get my exhaust done like that after i fabricate them......

It was a place in Di Haviland Road Moorabbin, near Moorabbin airport.

I can get the name and phone number of the business if you like.

I think I'll get my intake pipe done next :)

yeah, i know... but because of the dump pipe and the air-con, and because the turbo faces downwards, there weren't many other ways i could run the pipes.

+1. Mat's car is a massive wakeup call to what a vr4 CAN do.

I'm not sure exactly what temperature it's rated to... I know that it will be fine for cooler pipes though, they don't get too hot (not as hot as an exhaust, obviously)
