Get it in there and write up the differences in viscous and mech (performance wise).

I've only got an open GSR rear diff atm (going to make a hybrid 3.545 rear mech LSD to suit). You might be thinking of Shayne in the other blue AWD coupe who just sold his viscous rear diff and installed an EVO mech one. He should be taking the car out on the track soon and notice a huge difference

Unfortunately my first track day with it has been an epic fail due to another suspected electrical gremlin

Sofar the only difference I've noticed is that the mech LSD clunks like a bastard when you turn .
Unfortunately my first track day with it has been an epic fail due to another suspected electrical gremlin
just get a bottle of mitsubishi friction modifier
I can get you the part number if need be, mine used to be really loud, now its silent with the little bottle of magic juice.

What diff oil did you use?
LSD specific one?
or just plain old diff oil?
As Dougmo said, lsd friction modifier if you have used non LSD oil. Just put in a bit at a time though until the noise goes away. If you put in too much, the diff will slip more than it should.
KAAZ / REDLINE / MITSU have them.

* Castrol VMX-M 75W/85 API GL-4 or Syntrans 75/85 GL-4 for the non LSD AWD gearbox; or Syntrax 75W/90 if LSD - 2.2L
* Castrol LSX-90 SAE 90 APL GL-5 for the transfer case - 500ml
* Castrol SAF-XA 80w/140 GL5 for the mech LSD rear diff; or LSX-90 with Mitsu friction modifier (MB664682) - 800ml
* Castrol Sport Edge 10w-60 for the engine - 4.5L
* Castrol Response Super DOT 4 (grey bottle) - Brake and clutch fluid - 500ml
* Castrol Anti-Freeze/ Anti-Boil - Radiator - 1 bottle to cover 5L radiator and 650ml overflow.
Have a good read of the Syntrans product information data and it specifically has been tested on GVR4's, GSR's (non LSD) in Australia and on cars with over 300kw power http://www.castrol.c...rans_B13127.pdf

Ever thought about using the magical Diaqueen stuff?
I'm using the Super Dot 4 stuff on the AMG. Much more economical than the Motul DOT 5.1 stuff I had before. I think I'll be using that on the VR4 too!
Does it perform ok?

Castrol endorsed coupe!!
Yup I read their product range and found that they specifically make some oils for Mitsubishi vehicles and they have been approved for use as OEM replacement oil by Mitsubishi. The VMX-M has been formulated as a dedicated Mitsubishi transmission oil (Im using it in the Nimbus and the gearchanges are smooth as!). The Synstrans (non LSD) oil has been tested in Australia to be the best for high powered VR4 and GSR gearboxes so will put it in and check it out. Castrol make oils and Mitsubishi make cars - sounds like a good combination especially when Castrol put the effort in to test and develop them on AWD Mitsubishi's Look at the Castrol products on the garage floor in the pic
