Spent time tonight on it tweaking stuff: start up enrichment, fuel/coolant temp correction, accel enrichment, boost control offset, boost control PID.

Nights like this do remind me how much they are are really good bit of kit. Happy owner, and I don't even have flex fuel yet!!

I HATE BEING BIPOLAR........IT'S AWESOME!!

OK, a bit of an update. I'm feeling healthier now and able to get stuck back into doing this flexfuel conversion.

post-89-0-90913300-1417307155.jpg

Got me some new 11mm high impedence 1400cc Five-O Motorsports "Blackops" injectors: Fuel Injector: Custom Fiveo LONG: Asian Import Fit, Black-Ops M-Series X17

Benny from BenchMark out my way has had great experience tuning with these injectors and recommended them to me for flexfuel. He has a bunch of the local EVO boys using them with E85 making around 380kw atw at 80% duty cycle which is what I'm aiming for. If I need bigger I'll step up to the 1600cc which is the biggest Five-O have in the Black-ops range but will see what happens. Benny had these in stock for cheaper than what it would have cost me to import them in so it was a no brainer. They also came with wireless injector plug adapters to convert the oem EV1 style plug into the new EV6/EV14 Bosche style plug design.

As I sold off my old Holley fuel rail prematurely because I thought I had to bore it out to suit a 14mm injector (when going Siemens or old Bosche style large14mm injector ), I have been left without a fuel rail    So what did I end up getting? a new Magnus rail to go with my intake manifold of course   It's oem 11mm size so these injectors will fit it. Hey, sometimes you go around in circles but end up at the same destination ;)

Next thing to do is get an injector resistor delete as Im converting from low impedence injector to a high impedence injector.

Something like this bitch will do. Stay tuned.

Thanks ByBy5L. Yeah it helps to sell the old gear to help pay for the new stuff. I saved up my overtime and bought the stuff over a few months before my Mrs had a chance to spend it at Xmas lol  :)

Top bloke indeed Jamo   He was over my place fiddling with my idle to try and get it right with the old ECU and injectors prior to Micks Motorsport tune.

Now that Benny has gotten a lot more experience with Haltech's and tuning other EVOs on flexfuel, we have somebody local YAAAY! :w00t:

Yeah it means I can keep the evo loom as oem as possible. Everything to do with the Haltech and aftermarket electrical component installs have been using adapter plugs onto the oem plugs so that one day the loom can easily go back to run a factory ecu and sensors etc. Less hacking should = better reliability ☺

every time I check your build rob, you're getting new parts! Awesome!

How common is it for the transfers to go? I would have thought the (standard) grearbox would be the first to go..

Alex, oem gearbox internals, namely the centre diff is the weakest link. Once you've upgraded that (4 spider or welded/spool centre) the 4th gear is the next weakest link. Some people get away with not breaking the centre diff or stripping 4th gear with 400hp atw though, but they are probably mindful of how they treat the driveline.

Once you make more power than 400hp atw you've got to start seriously thinking about that centre diff, 4th gear and twin plate clutch upgrade as you WILL break stuff.

Transfer cases have been known to blow anywhere between the 400-500whp figure so it makes sense that when chasing that magical 500whp that the transfer case and driveshaft yoke/U-joint get attention too.

After that you could then be breaking the rear axles.

That's probably why 300kw/400hp atw is what most guys are content with in a street car with an oem driveline.

It gets very expensive really quick when you're making more power than that.

It's too much power for the street, but its a lot of fun finding out I guess :)

Wash your mouth out Rob! There is never too much power for the street 😜
And Barry, I'll swap you a regular manual transfer case for your 3 auto ones!

How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.

Rob,

With those power figures mentioned you probably don't need the transfer case then  :P

Sell to me please.

I'm in the process of ordering one - still deciding:

1. PAR

2. Your mate with the unused one

3. Boostin Performance

4. Buy yours since you dont need it

Any advice Rob?

Barry, look up Liberty Faceplating too. They are the manufacturer that supplies them to Boostin etc...
