EVO 6, reliability, fuel economy, practicality, the fact that its a 4g63... , its easier to get parts and shit for, personally i think GTO's are a bit of a pretty boys car...
my thoughts anyways!

EVo 6 allllllll the way
1.Its an Evo.
2.Evo retains a greater status and holds greater value.
3.The spares on the GTO awill be a FU*ckaround!
4.GTO is a tired and the technology aint near evo 6 spec...GTO knicknacks will likely play up on you and leave you with expensive parts to find...
5.GTO looks dated...it reminds me of an old Pontiac fiero.
6.GTO just didnt cut it when it came out, its an RX7 wannabe and i see as being a rip of an eclipse/talon.
6.GTO engine is a shit to service...engine parts will be likley harder to source than 4G63 parts..i dont even know how good the engines are either.
7. Evo is a newer car and will feel alot better on the road, i personally havent driven both but thats what i predict...it cant be any worse, id only expect it to be better
8.GTO just seems like a plush go fast fat cats coupe, not a true performance orientated car..Its no Evo!

GTO's are harder and much more expensive to get parts for. They are also an electronics nightmare when things go wrong with them. Although the GTO looks better and has an exotic feel to it you really have to think about what you want - Sporty exotic look and a cruiser GTO... or a car you can thrash and have fun with and have plenty of parts at hand like the EVO 6. I think the GTO will lose its shine after the novelty wears off when you will always love driving the 6 mate

Go for a VN Commodore V8
For the following reasons:
1. Cheap
2. Styling will never be out-dated
3. You can run shitty interceptor rims on the rear and still look cool
4. Cheap
5. Easy to get parts for
6. Cheap
7. Proven 5.0 V8 technology

Evo 6, because then you WILL BE ACCEPTED ON evooz!!!!
The GTO's got the "WTF was that??" sorta feel about it, it looks hot would be an awesome road car. But as stated parts, 2wd, weight are its downfall.
The Evo 6 is much more practical, would still be an animal on the road, but doesnt have the same "presence" i believe.
Depends on the risk YOU are willing to take, and exactly what you want out of the car.
