Troy - there's an import car-yard on Bell Street just down from the Bell St Maccas that's had a white E6 on display for a while now. I can't remember what the name of the yard is but they're up the Preston end, past the pub. They also had a silver E7 but I haven't seen that for a while, they might have sold it or shifted it to the back of the lot.

Don't ask other people to pick your car for you. Go with what you want.

Wake up troy.

You have obviously never worked on a GTO. If you had there would be no question in your mind, Evo 6 it must be.

I second that. Most people on this forum probably haven't even driven, let alone owned, a GTO or EVO6 so in all honesty what makes their opinions the basis for you to choose a car?

The only way you are going to know what you want is to go out and inspect/test drive and research as many GTOs and EVO6s you can in the real world. Go out to yards and private sellers, pop the bonnets and see how much engine bay space you have to work on them, enquire about spare parts so you know for a fact how much you might be looking at to maintain your ride throughout its life. Talk to importers and dealers. Advanced Jap (forum sponsor) bring in cars... What have they got to offer?

Also - Just because you found one EVO7 with rust doesn't mean you should write off all EVO7s. My mate scored a mint E7 for $25K from Advanced Jap with 52,000 klm on the clock and he hasn't looked back since.

Don't mean to sound harsh mate - but would hate to see you buy something and have it turn out to be a dud and end up costing you alot of money and grief.

Dont worry, i am reading lots about everything, the GTO is nice, but some people say they are spending 1-2k each month of fixing/improving things, and thats something i can just not afford at the moment. Buying a house, car, and keeping a GTO running and on the road (Parts from the US take ages)

Ill keep the GTO a dream, and have lots of fun in the EVO. Pitty the E6 doesnt have the centre handbrake disconnect, just need more POWERZ :D

E6 for the reason repeated a number of times already, the GTO is a posing car that carries alot of weight (1400–1710 kilograms sound right??) and parts are a PITA to find.

If that wasn't enough, the E6 would munch the GTO around the track.
