GTO, because every man and his dog has a VI...
there's a reason for that. . .
VI was built to blast sideways through forests at high speed.
GTO was built for americans with chest hair and medallions.
I don't see how the two cars compare at all, it's like comparing a Harley and a Yamaha R1.

Firstly - Whats the rush! I think it is the wrong time to buy cars especially evo's a couple of months ago you could of had a road registered Evo 7 RS for 24k now it is in or close to the 30k mark. Recession has wrecked the jap dollar and ours so buy carefully.
Secondly - The GTO was imported into NZ so I would source my parts from Mitsubishi NZ similar to my legnum three days on your doorstep. Most parts off the shelf.
Thirdly - The way you drive Evo! would most prolly be better but do you want all the electronic Trickery?? My experience tells me your a driver and you need a drivers car. You will get very fraustrated if you dont have the ability to control the car the way you want to. So an RS is looking good for you. More power less weight less trickery and heavy duty everything.
Finally: - What is your budget?? Be Patient!! test drive??
ps: I would not recomend this to anyone on this forum however a BMW M3 (as mentioned before) is a drivers car, Normally aspirated as well. For you and only you I would go with the M3 cause your a very very good driver! That would be able to get the most out of the car!
Good luck!
