If it doesn't have an eprom then it won't be chippable.
What is the number on the case of the ecu say?

Open the ecu up and take a photo and we will be able to tell you if it has an eprom or not.

I'm sure you know what an EPROM looks like but I have one of those ECU's right here and it has an EPROM.
On the cover under the "MD150427" there should be another number, if it starts with "E" you should be ok.......or just take a pic.

Make a wanted to buy thread Dave.
Should do one for the gearbox as well.
Still can't believe your ECU is Non-EPROM, it even had "E" on the cover.

my car is an 89 j-spec import, with chipped ecu. pain in the ass to guess where the fuses are cause the directions are all in japanese. back to the point i have an safc2 with 510's upgraded fuel pump + reg, evo 3 manifold and afm. dose this mean i should have no probs with a 20g at 20psi with a new intercooler and plumbing?

Dunno, I reckon it would be running it a bit close. I have seen 76% on my 510cc injectors at around 17 psi on a big 16G. Bare in mind that 17psi on a 20g would be flowing more air and therefore need more fuel.

you should probably upgrade the injectors and the fuel pump as well as the fuel filter, I have heard the stocko is a BIG flow restrictor.
