Just doing the finishing touches on a 4G63T conversion (into a CC lancer) and i've managed to get the tacho pulse, however it's completely off. Basically the engine idles but the tacho on the cluster shows about 200rpm needle barely lifts.
Whilst driving around it gets up to about 1000rpm, but obviosly this is incorrect.
Was wondering if anybody had done this conversion before and how they resolved this issue, using the factory tacho.
Thanks in advance .

where are you getting the tach pulse from? ECU or black box possibly mounted on the ignition coils?

The stock SOHC tacho cluster isnt made to decipher the tach signal from the twin coil ignition system of the 4G93T or 4G63T... therefore the stock GLXi cluster will only read about half true rpm. Grab a cluster from a GSR/EVO and try it as about 3/4 time it'll work. Else take your car to an autoelleccy and tell him to install a tach module on it which he can get the feed from the white wire on pinout #31 which is the white wire on the middle ECU plug.

Was thinking the same thing, wasn't sure if any1 used parts out of Hyundai clusters (running 4g engines) to sort this issue out.The stock SOHC tacho cluster isnt made to decipher the tach signal from the twin coil ignition system of the 4G93T or 4G63T... therefore the stock GLXi cluster will only read about half true rpm. How much did you get charged for this service ? If u don't mind me asking ..when i did mine i had to get the tacho modified, think they put a different resister in or something, i just took it to an auto leccy
Jaycar sell a "digital speedo corrector" which work on the same principle as a tacho, cost like 40$ odd.
Thought some1 might've used that in order to overcome this issue.
