Hey guys & Gals,
Just wanting every ones opinion on which motor i should swap into my C53A CB GSR. It will be a while before i have the cash to do it but should hopefully be this year. personally i am leaning towards the 4g61t as it is cheap and pretty much a straight forward swap. Do remember tho it is a FWD car so i am not chasing huge power levels.

i wasnt chasing huge power either. boost is adictive.

eiter 61t or 63t will be fine.
remember they're the same engine

hahaha.. yeah i had been told there is a bit of work to be done with the 93t. So with the 61T, does a lot of the aftermarket bolt on stuff for the 63t fit? The reason i ask is cos the only reason i was considering a 63t is because of the aftermarket support it has... and so i could have one of those "4g63 inside" stickers

most aftermarket stuff fits apart from pistons and rods.
but you can get around the above

Early days but the 63T is clear favorite in the poll!
Does anyone know what is needed to legally swap a 63T into my car. I have heard many different responses to this question, i was under the impression that if a car (or any version of that car) never came from the factory with the engine you are planning to put in it, then you had to get an engineers certificate ($800-$1000) to make it road worthy.

we dont have mod plates in vic
you may be able to get away with just filling out a change of engine number form at vicroads, thats what i did with the GSR - and had no issues going fomr the 4g93T to the 4g63T

Good point. They would deal with this sorta stuff on a day to day basis. Im gonna make sure i get it also sorted out before i do anything cos as you say.... Stuff getting Defected!!
Ive noticed that "save up my money, pay off my loans, buy a CC GSR!" is getting up there in the poll, maybe i should have said save up my money, pay off my loans, buy a C83A! I just love these cars too much (something is wrong with me )

Good point mattrat, the early vr4 63's look almost identical hey. I was more thinking of keeping it legal for insurance purposes. The engine swap has been put on the back burner for a while now. Gotta sell an audi 80 (that's been sitting in my parents backyard for a year!!) first.
