Thanks again guys

As far as I could see it wasn't the original oil cooler. It looked brand new.

My 400m times, the car is running a full exhaust including custom pipe, 16psi and blitz pod. To be honest I was hoping for a high 12 but that will all come with some practice.

Yeah I hear about older cars and fix / replacing parts. I just know that a lot of what I'm dealing with is due to poor maintance from a previous owner.

Oh also I love the amber corners :D

At this stage I'm saving for a new turbo.

I continued on my quest to sort this car out and found an issue somewhere else with the car.

The PVC Valve which is something no one said to look at was actually stuck slightly open. I removed it and i could blow slowly through it in both directions and when i shook it there was no rattle in it.

I then got out the carby spray and sprayed the absolute shit out of it and then after doing that many times i could only blow through it in one direction and it rattled like a babies toy after it was clean.

Whilst I was going i removed the hose off the intake manifold to see oil in the pipe from the PCV. I sprayed a good amount of carby cleaner down it's throat to clean it out and capped off this hose. There will be a catch can installed on the weekend.

I took the car for a run after doing all of this and there was absolutely no smoke whether idling or WOT.

I will report back in a couple of days and see how this goes.

Hi everyone,

As some of you would be aware I've been chasing a few different issues with this car since I bought it.

Basically as of this weekend it's coming off the road to get built correctly. It will consist of the following to start...

1/ head off and replace all VSS (valve stem seals) plus a complete clean up whilst it's off
2/ HKS head gasket
3/ ARP head stud kit
4/ complete clean up of inlet manifold
5/ new turbo, new gate, clean up and deck factory manifold
6/ HKS timing belt and possible cam gears.

Whilst it's all off I'll check all clearances for all pistons and rods and possibly replace all the rings and bearings whilst it's apart.

I'll keep you all informed as the build starts and progresses. I'll possibly be on here if I need to ask any questions.

Hopefully I can reframe from going stupid with this build.

Nice work Dion. Soon you would have gone over the whole car from tip to toe and have a worry free driving experience :) Its the same for all of us buying a 2nd hand car... until we go over every nut and bolt and replace/rebuild, we will never be 100% sure of the condition of anything.

I did some more work on the EVO today

I finished off my battery to boot install.

Note where I put the battery in the boot, that was an absolute prick to get there but it still leaves my boot useable.

Anyhoo here are some pics. You will also note the crack in the radiator top tank that Josh noticed.

Thanks for your help last night and today Josh.

In the coming weeks I hope to get a new cold air box fabricated and hard intake pipe made up

haha yeah I know. I really don't like the multible bends it's got in it at the moment.

I will start the pipe fabrication in the coming weeks.

Any idea's where I can get a silicon hose that can go on the AFM??

Should come with the intake kit mate. Most aftermarket intakes include all silicon.
Otherwise ebay, autobarn, anywhere really.
