yeah I agree I just hope there isn't more damage but the heat will soften all the rings also so I will see what comes back.

Might be time for a rebuild

When I bought my car it had gone through the same thing- it had over heated, but wasn't smoking much, just had oil leaks. The rings and bearings got replaced, along with the headgasket.......

All is good now! Lets hope that your head is still ok to be used- it does look like it got pretty hot though.

Hope this helps,

dre

I just picked the car up and I'm looking at valve stem seals are now completely toasted but the compression tested ok with readings of 168psi lowest to highest of 175psi but that will slowly get lower and lower as the rings wear out because of the excessive heat. They recommended that I run some Royal Purple additive in it to help it for the short term whilst I get my rebuild sorted.

Basically I'll get some VSS thrown in it, replace the radiator hoses to start and get everything together for the rebuild.

I got my gaskets and water pump from the states- half the price than what they charge here- the dollar isn't bad at the moment!

I did some more work on it yesterday

Removed socketed ecu and replaced with a spare i had to resolve another issue the car had

I finished the roof turrets off and removed the bottom one from the rear windows and gave that some cleaning and paint. Below are a couple of crappy pics i got last night

I also removed the passenger front seat as the base had collapsed and I repaired that as well.

I may find some time this afternoon to get around the windows done and repainted.

Have I told everyone how much i fucking hate this car

After basically replacing the entire cooling system I replaced the only hose left today to find there was one more weak link in my cooling system called the head gasket.

Anyway here is a video so you let me know your thoughts, i'm thinking head gasket.

What do you think??

Oh noes! Bubbles :(

Do you think that chemi-weld stuff would work?
Maybe you should give it a shot??

Hope you can sort it out before the cruise mate.

I like how you re-painted your window surrounds man.
It turned out really good.
I failed miserably when I tried doing that on my car.

EDIT: How long did you wait between coats?

Are you getting any oil mixed in with the radiator water Dion?
If you have a leak in one of the other water hoses it'll do the same thing and froth up and bubble like that.
Also, have you checked if there was a leak in the heater core behind the dash? look for a wet spot and signs of brown dust caused from evaporated water in the passenger footwell under the carpet etc. Sometihng you could try is to bypass the heater core altogether temporarily by joining both hoses that go into the firewall together with a piece of pipe or a long hose.
Note: Dont use CHEMIWELD!! it'll fuk something else up.
