Never mind everyone.
As of this afternoon the last weak link let go and the oil is full of water. Head gasket is gone.
I will say I'm disappointed but not surprised.
Now I just need to get the head off and go from there. Hopefully the head isn't cracked.

Thanks guys
I'll post again once it's fixed
The car will prob just get a new head gasket, valve stem seals done, turbo done then sold off. I've had enough of supposed performance cars.

thats a real shame to hear that this lemon has set you off these kind of cars.
I can see how you could come to this conclusion though, anyone else would have lost their sanity by now repairing the thing!
May i recommend cometic gasket; I've installed one into my evo motor when i did a reco and haven't had a problem since.

I will repair it correctly but I simply can't afford to be constantly fixing this car whilst I'm paying for my house and 8 month old son.

Then drive a shitter and take the Evo off the road til you fix it Many can relate to having a mortgage and kids but selling our cars is not an option. It can be tough money wise yes, but when you pull through it offers a great sense of pride and personal achievement.
Im sure everybody agrees that you just bought a really bad neglected Evo as we have never heard of anybody having as many dramas as you have. Mind you flogging the crap out of a dead horse didnt help either Car parts can be rebuilt or replaced to make a car more reliable, how many parts depends on how well maintained/neglected the car was previously.
You've done a lot so far cosmetically and suspension wise... you've turned shit to shine so to speak, but the Evo's ARE a performance car due to their engine and drivetrain combination. If they arent in a well maintained condition then you end up having a car spending more time off the road than on it.
Going out and buying a neglected Nissan or Toyota or Mazda will net you the same results. Dont be a quitter when you've come so far in the journey Dion, the Evo deserves to have a dedicated owner like you behind the steering wheel

Thanks for the support everyone, I really do appreciate it.
I was gutted the other night to find the head gasket had blown and it was due to an actual NEW part I had fitted. I understand that it was prob weakened by the previous heating issues.
I've just got to a point lately that I start thinking that this car is just breaking me and I just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel but surprisingly my wife actually put some sense into my head before I make a really stupid mistake.
After reading your thoughts and messages I've received from true friends I've made some decisions about what I'm going to do.
I will post my thoughts but I'd like to say a big thanks to you guys first.

I think we've all been to that place at least once with our cars Dion (I have frequent flyer miles given how many times I've traveled to THAT place). When you need to balance the time and money you spend between a car and other priorities, it can make the situation alot more stressful than it really needs to be and that tunnel seems to go on for ever.
It's only a car, nothing more, nothing less. If you find that it's not fun working on it or that it's not giving you any enjoyment, then put a cover over it and leave it alone for a while. Spend time with your family and do other things to keep the balance. You'll find when you distance yourself from the farking car that after a while you'll want to come back to it and get stuck into it with renewed enthusiasm.
Don't let it become a monkey on your back. When you stop working on it - stop thinking about it.
Trust me - when you get it running right and start getting real driving enjoyment out of it - you won't be able to wipe the smile off your face and maybe even utter the phrase "I LOVE this farking car".
"I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about." - Peter Griffin

too true shayne!
one too many times I've said to myself "If I've only invested all this money that I've wasted on the POS into a new car..."
but when it's running right its farking awsome!

I stripped it down today.
I found all sorts of issues but the main thing is the head gasket is blown into 2 different cylinders

i can get more pics
yeah at first glance it only appears to be a head gasket but the head will be going in for a full service soon so then we will know for sure
Good think is that all the bores feel really nice (no lip) and the pics don't show but you can still see the hone marks. There also seems to be next to no movement in the rings but I will be replacing all rods and pistons so I'm just going to check all clearances of what is in there at the moment
