Also are the evo 3 tie rods and ends the same as the later model evos?

No...the tie rods are different and are orientated the opposite way...as in point downwards instead of up (if that makes sense!)

the thread and taper is the same though, so you can use evo 2/3 ones in evo 4 knuckles for example

I've just sent my rack off the get reco'd the other day. I told him it's an E3. He rang the guys in Melb to get the seal kit and happened to mention the size of one of the seals. Upon doing so, he found out that mine is infact a FTO rack which is also the same as a Nimbus rack.

I wasn't aware the FTO & Nimbus racks fit our vehicles.... Ya learn something new everyday (well i did)  ;)

Well there ya go. Are the fto and nimbus the same front track?
May have different rack ends if different track.
surely the evo is a faster ratio rack?

is it possible to put any of the later model evo racks like evo6 into a gsr/evo 123 and what would the benefits be?

i used an evo 4 one, they bolt in, evo 5/6 has different sized threads on the power steering lines so isnt a direct bolt in.

evo 4 has less turns lock to lock, evo 4 rs has even less.

it isnt a massive difference (to a 4, rs would be better)but you certainly notice it

I honestly have no idea. The previous owner (Lister) must've had it installed? I'm curious now because if this is the case, there must be an obvious reason to do this otherwise.

Silly question though, If you do happen to have a different steering rack (less Lock to lock etc) from OEM spec evo 1/2/3 racks. Would that be worse for high speed applications because you're putting less input for more output? I remember someone saying about mechanical racks and less travel in them at high speed, that's why i asked.

Just chasing some info: I'm looking at getting a new/reco rack for my GSR (CD5A). Are GSR racks unique, or will any rack made for a CC fit? Are the racks the same between the CC and CE lancers?

GSR and evo 1 racks are the same ratio...and 2&3 are the same ratio. BUT all fit. Also an evo 4 will fit but you need to install lock limiters or the wheels hit the chassis rails on full lock

BRIAN
Black evo 1 full road rego and done properly/legally

I have heaps of parts...but never the one I need.
