The rims are a knock off of some description. I've never been one for brand names and thought they looked sort of ok on the car.
On them it has "RAVS engineering"
And on the opposite spoke "VORK Racing wheel"

Bazeng- Thanks man, maybe a re-spray is in order... ferrari red it is Lol

brisVR4- i havn't purchased injectors yet, but was looking into some 800cc ones maybe?
I'm not looking to go absolutely mental with the car just enough to run a decent time down the 1/4 and still be able to drive it wherever it needs to go.
What would be the best bet for the wideband? Is there one in particular you would recomend?

Cheers, Mike.

Hey ladies and or gents...

QUESTION: Can i actually run 800cc+ injectors on an ECM link?
If i can, what other supporting mods will i need?

I currently have coming a rising rate FPR, fuel rail and lines and i have an in-tank walbro.
I have a Wideband coming also.

What would be the advice of more experienced people be?
Will my idle be totally up the pooper or will tuning the ECM link fix that?

Sorry if i should have put it in a specific area.

Cheers for any help.
Mike.

Yes you can run 800 injectors. You have to go the the wiki section in the ecmlink forum and search injector setup. There you will find a table of settings for your global & deadtime that need to be changed into fuel setting of the ecmlink program on your laptop & saved to the ecu.

Excellent. Well the injectors are needed now the 450's are pissing fuel out all over the place.
Seem's to only be a seal on one of the injectors, to the rail, but i have new ones on the way anyway.

On another note, this weekend was spent putting the battery in the boot, replacing the fuel filter (what a prick of a thing to get at), A/C pump and lines were all removed and re installed the tail shaft with new center bearings.

But all of this has seemingly been useless as when i tried to compression test the car i noticed on number one plug that it has coolant all over it. Did the test cold, put it all back together, run it for a few minutes, checked it again, and it had slight amounts of oil on the plug. Although, all 4 cylinders hit on or very close to 160psi on both cold and warm tests.
My limited knowledge tells me im up for a new head gasket. Yay for that. no wonder it's been blowing excessive amounts of white smoke.
But then, i did the old check the radiator for bubbles test, and got nothing, all seemed perfect.
Fucking car. lol

Head Gasket replacement, under way.
Timing belt, what a bitch of a thing to get at. removal is always easier than install though, so i'll leave the cursing for when it goes back together. Lol

Replacing with Cometic head gasket. Also purchased ARP studs while i was there.

Now thats a mess. lol ...
certainly makes it easy to access everything in the engine bay though. Lol might mount the FPR and run some new fuel lines.
Might try clean it up a bit before i re-assemble aswell.
The manual is KING when it comes to replacement of key components.

Cut the engine mount that is in front of the timing belt and also cut the bracket that holds the other end of it next to the exhaust manifold.
Just make sure that you leave the 2 bolt holes so you can mount the power steering pump back up.
Just do it and you'll thank me later! It makes working on anything on that side of the engine so much easier.
Don't worry about whether it will weaken your engine mount, it won't.

How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.

What brand 850's did you buy? FIC?
I have to buy some bigger ones as well to. Who did you buy through, some of the shipping quotes are a bit stupid.

Why am i cutting the mount? If im replacing the belt at a later date, it'll make life easier i guess.
The side and rear mounts are not that strong surely.

EDIT: oh and how'd you get your alt down on the AC side?

My 850's are FIC's (Fuel Injector Clinic). I got them as a kit from FIC, included was a Rail, Aeromotive FPR, Lines, fittings and the 850's, shipping was the cheapest part, think that was $50au, and it was fairly quick.
If i was running them right now i'd let you know how they went, but really, i cant say anything untill i get it all running.
For customer service however, they are brilliant, i found.

Because as Dan said, it looks way cleaner and makes working on ANYTHING on the side of the motor easy
I ditched my A/C and got a Jay Racing 1G alternator relocation kit. If you buy one make sure that you get it with the steel bracket, the alloy ones break!

Well i'm thinking about cutting it, but it's not that difficult to remove. Took me all of 5 minutes.
I'll just paint it a pretty colour and walla, it looks good. lol
But in all seriousness, my engine bay isn't for "looks" or "show" as people put it. Neither is the car.
If it had some form of enhancement i'd be straight onto it. It doesn't really save much in weight by removing it lol

The Alt relocation thing makes sense to me though. Mainly because i need the room for a new dump/external gate arrangement.

Ok sort of an update.

Right, well i've kind of decided to not bother with a bigger turb than i already have.
The TD06 should be capable of doing what i want it to do for the time being. If that changes, i'll upgrade.

I've got my ECM link back from Tom so just trying to figure out the basics before i start trying to change things.
Gotta say, it's incredibly involved. I love it already and i havn't even started the car with it, the Mrs is pretty sore on the whole thing. Spending so much time on a computer reading forums, sifting through logs, she's not happy jan...
She'll get over it.

i'll update again when everything is back together. :)

Well i have an update for this thread.
I got the car running fine eventually, with the ECM link, 055 maf, 850cc FIC injectors, aeromotive FPR, and other goody's but found it not responsive enough.
The TD06 is good for the boost i want, but it will only SLOWLY hit my targeted boost which atm is set to 14psi. Comes on pretty hard at first at 4k rpm, but it's lacking the kick im used to. Im thinking this is due to a possible boost leak, but not 100% on that yet. My top intercooler pipe, hotside that runs across the exhaust manifold, is not in great shape and will be getting replaced.

However, the biggest update for this car is that im scrapping it.
I have purchased another VR4 and will be focusing my attention on it from now on.

So the BLACK one :) ... is pretty much standard. The story with that, for those interested, is it was my fathers about 4 years ago.
4 years ago i was 18 and really only just getting into the car thing, this car, is the one car that started my love for VR4's.
Before my father owned it, it was owned by an older man in adelaide for about 7 or 8 years and before that i don't know. But in my experience, if i can pinpoint where a car was nearly 12 years ago, and know the owner of it back then was sensible, i know it's worth purchasing.
Anyways, my Dad sold it to this guy in hobart, that had to sell it due to Moving, and the guy who bought it off him (keybanger) has taken great care of it in the time he owned it.
In virtually the same condition as when i last saw it. Aside from a Sports steering wheel, a rocket exhaust tip, lowered suspension (pedders) and a possible busted turbo seal. It's in as good, if not better condition to when i last laid eyes on it.

Now it has somehow returned to my family, i shall be taking it to the next level.
Nothing overly tasteless, just a few things to make it breath and flow better.
I'll be stripping my Maroon VR4 this weekend of a few of its goodies and placing them onto the Black VR4. :)
Personally, i think it's a better place to be puting my money than something i know has had a hard life.

The maroon VR4 isn't dead yet however. I'm not really sure which route i'll be taking but i know one will go fast, the other will get me to work. :) lol

Cheers for reading... Mike

Someone's keen! Why not keep the maroon VR4 as the one to thrash, and the black one as a daily?

P.S You need 25 psi out of that TD06 B) B) B)

Well right now, im not confident enough with my setup or tune to be turning the boost up any higher.
Eventually, It will be turned up to 25 pound. But right now, i need to be certain everything else is willing to support such pressure.

The driveline in the maroon one has always been a thorn in its side, theres a vibration in it that i just cant seem to pinpoint. Seem's exactly like the tailshaft is out of balance, or the uni's are rooted, but i've rebuilt the whole tailshaft now (uni joints, centre bearings and re balanced) and it's still there worse than ever. Shaking between 80kph and 110kph... Not really good.

I was thinking of pulling the Maroon VR4 down once again and rebuilding the whole drivetrain, including motor. But my partner has put the foot down and decided to cut my losses for me.
Atleast that's what she thinks.

I don't mind the idea of hillclimbs or drag racing, so i'll just let her forget we even own the Maroon one for now, whilst i start to stockpile the parts i'll need to convert it.

The Black one will remain my daily, i'll just fix a few little things and keep it driveable on the street for now.

OK update time then...

Black one had some changes over the weekend.
First of which was the turbo needed changing.

So on the left we have the old one, the right we have the new one.
I have no idea what size wheel that is on it but i now know it's not standard. The exhaust housing's seem the same but the compressor wheel, as you can see, are not.
They both read the exact same on the housing though.

Just the two small td05's next to the TD06. :P

Next mod...

Getting rid of the tiny little intercooler and piping.
So, on went this...

and the piping from the donor maroon car.

and walla... wouldn't even know anything had changed... :)
