Wow...sorry about the slack replies on my part. I somehow missed the notifications that there had been updates to this thread.

Brian had a few questions initially and we worked through those with him as best we could, but it became apparent pretty quickly that something "strange" was going on. I'll document that in another thread.

To answer the most recent question in this thread, the "lite" version for the VR4 and 1G/2G DSMs is nearly done. I just tested the 1G/VR4 version yesterday and everything seems to be working fine. So expect some updates on that soon.

Tom, thanks for all the hard work. I am looking forward to doing some work with this unit .....even though i am very happy with the tune supplied with the unit.

As i said to a couple of guys that spoke to me today about the ecmlite.....I am very impressed. Changes to tune and setup of launch control are only a few seconds job.

thanks for the support while we[that should read "you"] worked out the issue. It is rare these days to find a manufacturer that is willing to talk to his product end user and then make changes based on feedback received.

Finally the post product will be a little more known in the Aussie market. I have used the DSMlink product for 18+ months now & think it is the best tuning device. Quite easy to use & loads of features. I have just upgraded from the v2 to v3 & have already notice the car to be running better & using less fuel with minimal time spent on tunning so far.

Good to see you on the board Thomas. Keep up the great work.

This is what i have been looking for! i'll be making a purchase this year...

As for tuning, can i use WB02 to assist tuning on the road? and is it "mapped" enough to just plug in and continue driving conservatively until tuned properly?

looking forward to your results brian.

as far as mapped enough to drive.........Ive done a wide band test on road and havent felt the need to change any thing.

I will be searching for some low down power but the rest is pretty darn good for me straight out of the box!!

As for tuning, can i use WB02 to assist tuning on the road?

Wideband data can be logged through the ECU. The early EVO ECUs are a bit handicapped in this area, though, as they have even fewer "available" inputs than the 1G DSMs! To log wideband data on an early EVO ECU, I would suggest running the 0-5v analog output from the wideband kit into the ECU's front O2 input (replacing the factory front O2 sensor). Then configure ECMLink to datalog the wideband *and* perform narrowband simulation for you. That way you get 100% normal closed loop control and you can log true wideband data at the same time.

This page has more details.

and is it "mapped" enough to just plug in and continue driving conservatively until tuned properly?

Definitely. Yes. If it doesn't plug in, fire up and drive normally, then something's off in the car's setup or something hasn't been configured correctly in the ECU.

I believe so, yeah. Can you get me the ECU part number? Is it MD312467?

Mine was $535ish AUD after shipping and the $75 rebate.

Then you need a wideband (I have access to one for free?)

And some tuning knowledge, or a tune from somewhere. Tunes are required anywhere really. But the tuning should be less as the stock ecu will do your base idle/cold starts/etc perfectly anyway.

The new AEM wideband kit would work great if you don't want/need a gauge!

How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.
