very successful, all went in first time with no issues. really happy with the result too, seem to have got rid of the fuel cut issue and the controller holds boost nice & evenly.
now to mount it all up in the little flip-down pocket on the drivers side (by right knee)
pics to follow

You should look into that ECMLINK thing (sponsor section).
Much more reliable than the SAFC stuff of the past!

After fitting the injectors and fuel pump no worries, i noticed a fuel smell driving to and from work the next day. So i had to pull the rail off again and found id pinched one of the orings so swapped it over with one of my spares, re-installed it and tested it to find ANOTHER one leaking! literally pumping it out too haha; so disassembled it all again and replaced another oring which was toatlly fuct. 3rd tmie lucky and has been running very sweetly, if not a rich since.
Also,
last week I fitted my rear strut brace and removed the cruise control and fitted an n/a throttle cable so I could install the front strut bace also. will get pics up.
my wasnt the firewall grommet on the throttle cable just a little c*nt to get off lol!!! i spent longer trying to get it out than doing the rest of the job..... love the results though, very light GO pedal
this weekend I am planning to fit the td05 16g6-7, evo AFM and chipped ecu and water temp gauge all going well. I have ordered the new gaskets

Of course I was expecting some broken studs; but 6 of 9?!
The old manifold was also really badly cracked and totally useless as was the turbo exhaust housing haha, but that's fine as I had evo 3 bits to go on.
Its a wonder the thing went so well considering how wasted the turbo/manifold/dump all are!
The new turbo doesnt fit! the low pointing compressor outlet of the RVR HSG BIG 16G hits the front engine mount - which i wasnt aware of prior haha.
So we 'clocked' the compressor cover 90deg to get it facing upward again; but it still sticks out too far close to the radiator to get a intercooler pipe on. it can only go one of two positions to have the wastegate actuator still mount.
So it ended up a race just to get it back together in some kind of useable state as it is my daily. So we decided to put the old turbo back on the new manifold with the new dump pipe/wastegate screamer pipe fitted.
More buggered threads and bolts. blah!
we had or bought right tools for removing head studs to no avail! no idea what we were doing (well we knew what was supposed to happen, but couldnt get it to work). aren't you're supposed to drill a small guide hole in the end of the stud/bolt, then drill in the stud extractor and i guess supposedly the thing should all come out in one piece when reversing the drill. but we couldnt even get a guide hole drilled properly. spent $80 on tools, bolts/studs, coolant etc. not bad i guess and now i've got the stuff, but will i ever use them?!
i had a tap & die set already so managed to fix enough to get the dump pipe on the turbo and turbo on the manifold.
also managed to extract one head stud successfully (the one broken off external to the head), so we have 4 bolts holding it on (about the same amount that were doing anything anyway lol) and it goes and runs properly. it just sounds shit as it seems to be open wastegate from idle so its not cool when it comes on boost, it just sounds like a tractor!
So now to get a proper evo 3 turbo compressor cover (a ported one), then the new turbo can go on which will be a big improvent over the knackered old one. BUT I will have to get a shop to remove the headstuds properly and install the new ones.
Very gutting! but im pleased we had a crack at it still, if all the original parts werent so badly wasted, we'd have been fine.
so in the end probably good to have found all the broken old parts to repalce before they literally fell off!
here is a timeline of how my weekend went LoL

I wasnt aware it would hit the engine mount.

the old turbo still went pretty strong, but its cracked to hell between the dump and wastegate and so badly blocked with carbon deposits, and now that it temporarily back on with the new screamer pipe its a tractor!, sounds shit as right from idle, not just good coming on boost...

cant you get creative and chop a bit here and there? maybe make a new bracket for the wastegate actuator?
i always used a external so i never had an issue.

we did have a go at drilling out one hole, but it was a nightmare for use noobs, even with a right angle drill adaptor. We couldnt get the guide hole drilled enough to get the stud remover to bite and we burnt out our drill bits too
the bottom row, middle stud I got out with two nuts locked onto eachother is that the oil gallery one?
yup yup..
also in regards to the turbo... cant you rotate the housing to have the outlet facing up? and make a bracket for the waste gate?....

I guess it's a possibility yeah, we did rotate it to the one other position we could still bolt the wastegate act on but it pointedtoo direct at the radiator, a custom bracket could work though, I might have to get creative
i just noticed your in Lyndhurst, i'm usually in Hampton park.... should have a kebab run with the south east boys one night at the kebab shop on Hallam Rd (the one with 7-11)
