Cheers ozy, the full white bar was actually just masking tape while I sprayed it...

Any issue in grinding off the compressor cover locating pin/knobby thing? If I remove it then I can rotate the cover anywhere I require

then I could make up that actuator bracket

yep, you dont need to grind that pin off, just pull it out. its a SS pin pressed into a ali housing ;)
HID stands for "High Intensity Discharge", or if you dont adjust them properly, "Hi I'm a Dickhead".

So I've got a shoot for lautista.com next Sunday out at healesville, part of a early WRC comparison feature.

So I am working feverishly to get the ol girl right!

Spent today @ Pedders sth Melbourne fitting my Whiteline rear swaybar & putting a mice aggressive alignment on with some neg toe

Marc and the other Kiwi boys down there are most helpful and are very reasonable.

The thread Dr is comin later in the week to remove my snapped exh manifold studs and the turbo WG bracket should be fabbed up Monday so all lookin pretty good!
Will hopefully get the chip socket soldered at some stage too fingers crossed

Just got to wash n polish the poor thing...
***edit*** washed and polished out all the greasey marks with excellent results!

well my WG actuator mounting brackets work perfectly! I drilled out the locating pin on the compressor cover, rotated it to near stock VR4 location and im laughing!
I could even retain the OEM top intercooler hose for the meantime. after intial test run blew off those hose clamp, all that was required was a slight lean on the WG actuator arm to ensure tight shut-off.
Using the AVC-D I safely wound in the boost, even with stock ecu I can get 20psi out of the new turbo, thanks I guess to the 510's & walbro ensuring plenty of fuel still.
This new turbo is a monster! so responsive and a fuckin ball-tearer all the way to redline with no drop off at all. it ran faultlessly all day sunday too while driving spiritedly through yarra ranges on photoshoot drive, so I am fully stoked and so pleased I was able to retain the whole turbo. :D

A sad and final update

Simple equation: Pic 1 + Pic 2 = the rest...

Seems as though all 16 valves have hit all 4 pistons and generally fuct everything.
Fail - time to part out the old girl; she has shit herself royally

Look out for my rad eBay auctions coming soon. There is shiteloads of goodies to have.
Unless someone wants a tidy, complete rego'd shell?

Ouch! Did you want to buy a motor with forged pistons? Probably just needs new gaskets... Shame to part out such a clean vr4. Not many around anymore....

It is a massive shame, but I don't want to chuck money at the head only to find more bottom end damage though from these initial impacts (ie bent rods or something), I don't really have the funds anyway otherwise I would consider a rebuild; but wouldn't see any change out of $5k or more. Or minimum $2.k for another motor

You could fix that for $500 or less. Looks like the pistons aren't that bad. Put a wire wheel on the drill and clean the worst piston top. (don't clean the last 5mm at edge of piston or the carbon at top of bore). Post a pic of the biggest valve mark.
If you not interested I may buy the shagged head and intake...
