Welcome to Australia.
You wont be able to import anything between 1988 E39a VR4 and EVO 6.
Unless they're a personal import (Gold Plate) or been registered before the loophole was closed that allowed the cars in between to be rego'd in Aus.
Then there's the EVO's going around with Aus delivery plates riveted onto the firewall.
Then there's a converted GSR's to EVO spec.
I've seen some cheap VR4's going around lately, can you handle a tank?

thanks for the reply, ive heard that if the car is 15yrs or older you can bring the car into the country is this correct?
im not looking to bring a evo into the country i really want a mitsi eclispe and convert it to right hand drive, is there a place in melbs that can do this?

You'll never get an eclipse into Australia... period.
Unless you find a sucker with a raws workshop who is willing to not only import & comply, but perform complete mirror conversions to the steering etc.
Eclipses were only ever made LHD so it will require a LOT of custom work.
Your chances are between nil and zero. Sorry

The 4G63 motor code is street shorthand for dominance. It's automotive Darwinism.

A lil' off-topic but if I were to move to Aus, could I bring an Eclipse in as a personal import since I've owned a few here?

Yes, but you couldn't register it until it was converted to RHD.
