Bigger cooler, stock GSR Bar
#1

I have been plumbing my cooler, and i'm using 2.5" pipes, from the turbo, to cooler, to TB.
The hotside goes over the manifold, besides the radiator, and tightly follows the front chassis member up to the cooler. I can't make the turn any tighter, or closer too the chassis.
the cold side runs out to the side, near where the stock cooler exit was, then under the battery tray and up.
I want to keep the GSR front bar, but this is proving to be a bit of an issue.
If anyone has a stock gsr front bar and aftermarket cooler, have you had to modify the bar to get it to fit, I have shaved it a bit on the back where the cooler fits, but it looks like i'm going to have to do it again, where the pipes go.
Grrrr....
pics, thoughts, ideas..

maybe thats where the problem is
is it a later model Evo cooler?
how about getting the cold side pipe through the hole in the reo already? (Not 100% sure if a 2.5" pipe will fit)

anyway, i have an evo cooler and all the piping, but this is bigger, and my pipes are bigger, the evo cold side will fit, but the hotside under the front of the car doesn't have enough room, and over the top is not really possible with a gsr grill, unless you pull apart the mounts on the grill.
i think i'm going to cut the bar, i'll still be able to have it look neat, i just wanted to try and avoid it.
its basically a little taller, a little wider, and a little thicker then the evo cooler.

It has bonnet pins, and the cooler sits neatly underneath the rad support panel, with the stock bonnet latch removed. Decent size too.

anyways in regards to fitting a cooler bigger then an evo cooler GL!
unless u remove ur air con condenser and sit the cooler backwards on the rad it aint going to fit without major hacking of the reo/front bar plastic.
i had a huge amount of grief fitting a VR4 cooler behing a GSR bar... ur better off getting an aftermarket fb for the cooler to sit behind otherwise you will have long nights with the sabre saw and a die grinder/grinder...

Really happy with it!, i'll post pics one day, but it did take a lot of work... still retained the full reo, but had to modify some of the lower lip mounts, and the most modifying was the entry and exits for the pipe work.
the cooler core is 500x260x60.

That used to be my car!!! lol
Getting that cooler in there wasnt any fun at all, but it worked once i removed the bonnet latch and used bonnet pins insted.
You do need to modify the bar...(pair of snips really to cut away at the inside of the grill.
It does work and the car looks like an absolute sleeper!
All the best.

should i paint it black?
I wouldnt be painting it black but I would be considering blocking off each side of the cooler end tanks its proven to increase cooling capacity Vs air being able to escape around the cooler

Hence why should never buy parts of Jon if you want them to be reliable and true to the discription, unless its an asthethetic part lol
