Bit of an update, took the lancer to do a photo shoot for Zoom magazine, we
had the bonnett on and off a few times for some arty pics etc.
While driving it home the bonnett decided to flip open smashing the windscreen, denting the roof and f#*#ing
my Jap carbon bonnett.Needless to say I wasnt a happy chappy!!!!
I rang Shannons insurance that afternoon and they were great to deal with
letting me take it back to the guy that did the re spray.
So now its getting an alloy E1-3 bonnett, new windscreen, new vents, new weather strips and a new roof skin
and the insurance quote came to 5800
Bloody cars!!!

Geez man, sorry to hear about it but great to know Shannons have treated you well. Im with Shannons and its great to know people praise them when things like this happen.
We had a similar experience in one of our old cars. Mrs didnt close bonnet properly, flung open at 100kmh, BANG!... even pushed the front of the roof turret down as well. Needed a new bonnet, roof and windscreen.
When it happened to the Mrs she said it that it scared the shit out of her lol :lol: Lucky for us she and the kids were OK and managed to pull over on the highway safely.

If it makes you feel any better a mate of mine has done that twice first time was his fault, second time some arse bandit undone the clips in a car park, was a nice surprise when he hit boost!

Same thing happened to me after i picked the car up from the exhaust shop luckily mine didnt touch the roof its the worst feeling all the best getting it sorted im sure this will only mean bigger and better things for you mate

weird, do you not have the saftey catch?
i was at a track day, and the session before, i had opened my bonnet, and when i went out on the next session, i didn't close it properly.. it caught on the saftey, but didn't actually fly open and get the car... lucky i suppose... i thought the catch was there for saftey in that respect... must admit at the track i wasn't going any normal speed limit.. i think i was hitting about 160 on the straight... i did get black flagged, but happy that it did it's job...

ps rob.. amazing cars! love em both.. can't wait to see the procar in action

They are picking it up tomorrow
New alloy e1-3 bonnet
new bonnet grills
new roof skin
new front screen
new strips
new plastic cover around wipers etc
all up $5800 for the repair(500 excess :) )

Next thing to do is fit my brakes
Fit wheels
Fit Koni coilovers
Fit dog box
Turn boost up and make over 500kw at the wheels :D

oh no not the Jap carbon bonnet!! I wish I was lucky enough when mine flipped that it buggered the roof skin (had to cough up for one of those myself re rust).. my bonnet only smashed the windscreen and stuffed the corners of the bonnet... guess thats what you get when you have the Jap real deal bonnet... real deal damage! shame thats gone though.. least you had it for the pics
