After a massive day of circuit work? Are you insane? I don't feel like killing myself with exertion especially when I'm not getting paid. Also you clearly didn't read my post because it says quite clearly that the venue doesn't have the facilities to do drags. And it's nearly 2 hours from melbourne.

how can you say that no one will be "pushing their cars" what a joke.

:w00t: Probably taken a bit out of context as I was referring to 'people pushing their limits' if prizemoney is at stake. Its not a good incentive as it forces people to take extra risks they probably normally wouldnt take in order to win. Also if cars are not setup for a track like that you wont be pushing it anywhere near the pace setters. Seriously, it looks like a very technical track and a big huffer wont be suitable for it. Will you be going in your GSR with the 4G63T as is? or have you begun the project car?

i could prob get a decent deal for this place as my uncle knows the owner and is sponsored by him. For the before proposed 20k we could get the track for 2 weeks lol

No it's not the case at all...it's how you were spraying off about how there would have to be prize money involved before you would worry about making the trip to enter an event in victoria.

Maybe some members of T4g....oops should i say t4gtuner think that i have my back up a little on the matter?
Take a step back a few months and check out the evonats....who do you think was the most dissapointed member of t4g..hmmm fuck me ??? wonder who that was???

After once again all the shit that comes pre nats regarding criteria of entry...i ran an evo tme proudly adorned with t4g stickers front and sides...was there any other rrepresentation from the forum..NO...was I looked upon like a leper from the evooz heirachy-yes ...did I give a fuck?..NO....its amazing how quickly some things no matter how substantial can be forgotten here

So before we start talking about organising a huuuuuuuuuuuge 4G based event and getting all excited about tearing up the tarmac - how many people have committed to a) supporting Dan's Sandown Day idea and B) actually put up some $$$ to lock in a spot to do some high speed driving?

I think it'd be a wise idea to let alot of 'Newbies' have a taste of track work under the supervision and organisation of an already established group (such as Dan's Sandown proposal) before everybody gets too carried away with going out and doing their own thing.

I had planned to discuss that with him on wednesday. But we'll see what happens.

EDIT: What I should've said was that I don't have any of the details for what Dan was organising and we'll see if it's possible to put this in the pipeline in place or, or in series with the Haunted Hills day as I believe the general consensus in this thread is that Calder is too far reaching of a goal at this stage. Regardless of any facts, I will post an update to this thread everytime I know something new.

Ent, i wasn't reffering to doing drags at the same place, but surely you have a drag strip in or around the area.

I think lorrie understood mate,

haunted hills is over an hour and a half se of melbourne and calder is in the outer northern suburbs.

not a trip I would be prepared to take either. and the drags run on friday nights at calder at the moment anyway.

good suggestion though.

And if you choose heathcote instead of calder, it'd be about a 5 hr drive from Moe to Heathcote via Melbourne (with traffic on the southeastern, or via eastlink thru the city onto the western ring @ greensborough then out the hume). In either case, it's not really a feasible option unfortunately. Would be very different if we were doing the trackday at calder, but then you have to deal with tolerances, general exhaustion, heat exhaustion, annoyed wives/girlfriends, tired children etc.

Ok guys and girls,

I have adjusted the EOI thread (currently the other top thread in this forum category) to be an EOI all circuitwork thread. So if you're EOI Sandown day, Calder Day, Haunted Hills day, then go post your name in that thread.

Let's see if we can't fill a Haunted Hills day without even resorting to other forums yet.

Spot on, as per previous club entry level events before us of this nature, the criteria to enter was very relaxed to encourage a wider participation of entrants to support your event.

I think it'd be a wise idea to let alot of 'Newbies' have a taste of track work under the supervision and organisation of an already established group (such as Dan's Sandown proposal) before everybody gets too carried away with going out and doing their own thing.

Newbies should be encouraged to enter any events that are organised!
As this is where your track fiends come from to support your events in the future, its the racer thats new at this discipline that ends up experiencing it for the first time and starts to love this form of club level type events.

This is where 4G club level motorsport begins which in turns brings more memebrs to be involved or new memebrs to the club a chance to get this type of experience

I was a newbie on the track once as well, we all have to start somewhere(given the chance and support)

hey entran, i read ur post and see a few possible things which might cause issues.

1) at my day at HH, there were about 45people driving. the DD team started off with one run per driver then u line up. so u got one 60sec run and then wait for 40mins for ur turn. they quickly relise the problem with that. divided into 3 groups of 15 each, gave each driver in one group one run. next time out they gave each group 2 runs... this was the better.
i think most probably 3 runs per group would be the best. once ur 3 runs are don u can rest for 1hr till the next runs come up. plenty of track time and not too much time spent waiting in line. they did 2 runs each group and I ended up with 20+ runs for the day.
now most normal clubs do it in the fasion u talk about and they seem to end up with 5-6runs per driver for the day, but they usually have more drivers 60ish.

2) most CAMS clubs charge about 80-100 for the day. DD charged 130 for the day (they require no insurance like AASA or CAMS). so asking 150-200, unless u were planning on having less cars than 45 would be a little too much.....unless u have no sponsors and paying officials/organisers for time and effort.

3)i am pretty sure that i read some club...most probably WRX club had AASA insurance for the day. maybe ask them or ask HH or AASA to confirm. as AASA is usually cheaper and easier to organise. otherwise u WILL NEED cams certified officials.

4)if u havent or know anyone who havnt filled out AASA etc forms, let me know i might be able to help a bit.

and something else. as there are no other people u on the track u are activly racing against, except the clock. i think the hillclimb will keep most dickhead behaviour out of the system.

the track is most definately a hard track and i would advise that u get someone who has done the track before and is a good driver to get all of the competitors out on the track for a morning walk...which is compulsory. plus maybe have the first 1 or 2 runs as untimed and practice... esp true for the noobs for the day.

you do not need semi slicks (thought will be better, maybe) as the whole track is less than 1k long and semi's take longer to heat up to proper temp. and with brakes a "fucking good" set of street/track pads is an absolute must, nothing too track oriented, the pads need to work from the word go.
