Cheers Baz.

So what i thought was a roll pin issue with 3rd gear in the dog box turned out to be this.

20160722_080232_zpsjkvyzmkk.jpg

Sheered all the dogs off 3rd gear and when i had a look at 2nd gear that needs replacing too as you can see wear on the dogs and a hairline crack where its going to follow suit with 3rd gear.

2nd was always a little funny as when changing up or down in a straight line it would clunk hard at low speed but when turning right changing into 2nd it was smooth, maybe a shift cable issue im not sure. But was always smooth change up when at about 7000

Pics of fucked 3rd and on its way out 2nd.

No it didnt baz but i am going to check 1st and 4th and see what they are like.

Its actually a PAR gearset, going down to talk and show Sam tomorrow so i will see if he has upgraded the material as this was an early gearset

dare i say it but dog wear like that comes from the dogs banging on mishifts or shifting too slowly

Yeah guilty of banging the odd dog or two. So i went to PAR last week and to his surprise he couldnt believe what i had since it was about 8 years old as he redesigned the dogs years ago.

Sam is a really nice guy and has a mad set up, he showed me tje cnc machine he uses to make the gears and cranks, the thing is mental.

You really can appreciate the prices especially when he tells you its taken him 12 months to right programs for the cnc sometimes.

Anyway he put to me that what i had is totally stupid for a street car and would be a pig on the street and hes right so that's why hes making me a 1st to 4th with synchro straight cut gears not dog straight cut. He said i would need to always use the clutch with the synco gears which is ok since i never not used it with the old gears. Ill keep you guys posted as these are not cheap and coin is had to come by lately.

In the mean time got the -10 fittings on the rocker cover and modded oil catch can back all powder coated black.

I have been contemplating wether or not to use the straight cut syncro box for a while. It sounds like a winner, I did ask around and couldn't find any info on them. Hopefully they go alright

Ok so valve cover update!

After getting it back was so happy with until i flipped it over and seen that the powder coater didnt clean the oil off it of or cover it up from overspray. As a result the powder coat rubbed off easy aa it was directly on top of oil. I couldnt risk it coming off and going through the engine or turbo oil system so i made him do it again.

After getting it back i got my mate to remove the powder coat from the letting and polish it out.

So it seem i just cant catch a break with this heap of shit!

Broke the dog box.
Oil filter spinning off.
Dip stick blowing out.

I was driving the car befor i broke the box and i noticed that the car was pinging abit here and there and it also seemed to want to fight you coming on boost when into it.

So i windged to my mate that tunes the car that it feels like its gone out of tune. So we go for a drive with the lap top.

Takes all the timing out and has the afr on 10s and as we climb a hill it pings!

He was like it cant there is shit loads of fuel and no timing, and i was like but it just pinged!

So we leave it and decide to go back to the dyno later as it was 10pm at night and i was over it.

Pushed the car out for a wash the other day and keep in mind the cams have always been set on zero.

I've had those stupid bolts on fidanza gears slip. But they usually retard ...your inlet was advanced. That will affect you base timing. So it could be ten degrees on the base map !!
