lol... just hope it doesnt break apart in 2 weeks though. The side wall thickness is a good thickness but tis the welds that count too. See if the guy can tell you exactly where its made from. If its Thailand then thats one of the good ones.

The seller is claiming that they are US made...

Do it right, do it once.

Excellent!!

Thanks shayne for backing me up!

All those interested (please refer to the first post for your name) I will be in touch with you via PM or here.

I will try to get this underway ASAP, but realistic deadline for cash collection would be 2 weeks.

Cheers,
Alex

Guys, don't forget that if you get one person to pay for all of these and then have them all delivered to the one address over here that the total price looks to be over $1000.
You could well end up having to pay GST + duty blah blah blah.
You would be better off asking this guy if he can send you this in 2 orders to avoid that!
That said, good luck with these manifolds. It will be interesting to see how they actually hold up for different people.

How much time do you spend in a parking lot with your performance car? If you do a lot of parking lot driving, and hang out in parking lots, chances are you are a ricer, go home and read import tuner. If you’re complaining about noise you should not be modifying your car. You should also consider no longer being a man, please hand in your genitals at the door.

yep no problem billy

Now that we have the numbers I'm sending enquiries to the seller.

Yep I'm aware of that tax Tim, do you know if that's inclusive of freight charges?? Anyone know where i can get comprehensive info on importing goods and taxes involved?

I will be PM'ing everyone on the group buy list by the end of next week so keep an eye out!

Can't wait :)

Cheers,
Alex

Just found this on the customs site. I am guessing that the manifolds themselves are going to come to more than $1000AUD?

If you are receiving your goods via the post you are considered the importer of those goods and these may be subject to Customs duty and Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Generally, all goods imported into Australia are subject to Customs duty and GST and are assessed for community protection risks. However, all goods (except for tobacco and alcoholic beverages) may be imported duty and tax free if the value of the goods is A$1000 or less.
Irrespective of how your imported goods arrive in Australia, you will be required to lodge a formal Customs Import Declaration if their value is above A$1000, and pay the calculated duty and taxes. Import Declarations are used to clear goods from Customs control. Import Declaration may be lodged electronically, documentarily or through the use of a licensed Customs Broker (located in your local yellow pages). There are cost recovery charges associated with the lodgement of an import declaration.

Have a read of this as well.

Alex, basically your aim is NOT to spend more than $1000AU "including freight" in the one transaction. If you do go over $1000AU incl freight you'll be hit with 10% tariffs, 10% GST, have to register as an importer by filling in shitloads of paperwork, provide identification for registry, pay Admin fees etc. Dont use a broker, they're just money hungry parasites like lawyers are when you can fill in forms and do it yourself. Best thing to do is to STAY UNDER the limit and avoid the extra red tap and charges. Always leave yourself with about $50AU to play with in case the exchange rate drops during the processing of the transaction. ie. total value including shipping is about $950AU.
If it looks like its going to go over $1000AU, get a few of them sent to another guy's address or something and written on a different invoice number. i.e. 5 on one invoice going to you, 5 on another invoice going to another member.

Sweet, thanks Andy I'll keep that in mind.

As soon as I hear from this guy I will be PM'ing everyone. So for the time being put aside $200 to be on the safe side so when I get the green light we can do this ASAP.

Cheers,
Alex
