Man I hope I don't mess up your thread (and if I do, mods feel free to delete my posts), but I've never understood what the difference between a "long" and a "short" block is??
And how do you tell what type it is?

Is it -
6bolt = short
7bolt = long

??

What does it actually mean? :unsure:

long motor should be complete bottom end and head still bolted together.
short motor will just be complete bottom end.

Ahh, ok. Thanks mrcyborg. :)
I thought it was something like the term "big block" for V8's or something.

Cheers.

7 bolt vs 6 bolt is simply the amount of bolts at the fly. 6 bolt is a VR4 Galant engine and 7 bolt is a evo 3. Not sure it is the case for other 4G63 engines that go into RVR's etc.

Long motor is everything from head right way down to sump. Short motor is just the block.
