Things to consider,
O2 sensor not working so the ecu not getting into closed loop, check with a data logger,
dirty afm,
blocked cat,
boost leaks, you likely have some anyway.

I had a look on a few things today,

I found a intercooler hose not screwed on properly, theres some carbon build up on the o2 sensor (isnt this quite normal?), no dirty afm. I took off the mid pipe exhaust with the cat together today, how can I determine its block or time for a change?

There will always be carbon built up on the o2 sensor and cat. With the cat they get pretty gunked up anyway especially when running rich stock maps. Thats why i put a broom though mine lol.

With the o2 sensor you need to get a data logging setup or borrow one and plug in and see if its cycling up and down at cruise between roughly 0.1x-0.9x volts , and therefore getting in closed loop. You likely not getting in closed loop so you running rich at cruise

HSGR manual, I get 450/tank almost on the dot. I drive 35km to and from work every day, the bulk of it on a long freeway. I think this probably accounts for my higher kms compared to the above replies.

I did a short country drive not long ago and got 550/tank which I was pleased with.

Ok leaned out ecu between 6.5kpa and -52kpa,, 1500rpm and 5000rpm
Went for a little drive

Highway 560km .. 347.9miles
51 liters... 11.22 gal

10.98k/l
9.11 l/100k

31.02 mpg
3.22 g/100mile

afr on light to medium throttle 14.4 to 14.9

i think there is a little more to get out of it..

Yeah I'm mianly getting about the same, 300ish around town, or 4-450ish if i'm on the highway.

I'm putting custom 4.2 gears in my auto soon to run a 3.909 rear & that will be
3800rpm at 110kph. I'll sit on 100kph on freeways at 3400rpm to save on fuel.
GT3037r turbo with the short gearing shouldn't be too bad running around localy.

I wired in E-manage Blue in my old S13. I thought it was a very capable ECU, and when time comes, I'll be wiring 1 into the RVR as well. If you're looking into one, make sure you get both timing and fuel harnesses, and the emanage tuning tool and lead. Worth the money.

i installed my automatic rvr engine a piggyback dastek unichip ecu, open pod air intake, stock evo3 intercooler + turbo + injectors, 3" exhaust piping, fpr @ 4psi, boost at 14psi. a descent 196whp. can't remember the afr value but i guess around 14.

i got 10L/100km on mixed driving and even better on highway cruising

I've been running in my newest RVR auto with 4.2 > 1.074 > 3.909 (3.910 into 3.909) 0.001 overdriven at the rear.
Same gearing as an Evo 3 manual, but the auto primary gearing makes the kph vs revs closer to a VR4 manual.
Being like a manual VR4 with no 5th gear, it is very thirsty. I've been slingshoting it a lot & giving 2nd gear a
few redlines here & there. So I have no idea what my fuel usage would be cruising.

I took a highway trip last weekend.
At about 250 km I reached the last quarter of the tank. And I filled it up with 34 litres of 98 octane.
Making it around 7.5k's per litre.
That was mainly cruising at 120kmh. And a couple times boosting.

So I guess I have some work left to do to get around 10k's per litre.
Mine is a stock Hyper Sports Gear R Manual.

I am on my third tank of fuel in my RVR HSG since buying it, the best fuel economy I have had was the second tank were I filled her up from half way and ended up calculating 12.7l/100km. My RVR is 5sp and pretty much stock with the exception of a 3" mandrel bent exhaust and 15psi.

I haven't been grandma'ing it either, though this last tank seems to not be lasting as long. Maybe it has something to do with what type/brand of fuel? The first two tanks were 98 BP ultimate and the current tank is 100ron stuff from a United servo.

Best I got untill now was 8,7km/L.
That was a day on the highway not going faster than the speedlimit of 120. And easy driving.
392km's on that tank.
But most of the times I don't get much over 320 on a tank.

So please tell me what's wrong. Because the BP 98 Ultimate is going for €1,80/L over here.

When i bought my hsg I drove it back from Newcastle, about a 7 hour drive and it was on par with the Magna TR we took up there on the highway/freeways, which seems to get around 9-10L/100kms. The mountain we came down is steep and long and required engine braking which the auto is great for! and it chewed a little more on this stint. I'd guess around 12L/100kms on our country roads so far. I'll measure it soon to be more accurate cause I'm very interested after hearing this stuff.

Just done a 3000 Km trip to Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne and averaged 10.2 Lt / 100 km

Best for trip 9.2 Lt / 100 Km, worst 10.5 Lt/100Km

 

HSGR Auto.  Used Shell vortex 98 most of the time (had 8c / litre dockets from coles)

 

All done by  staying off boost (using the boost gauge), accelerating gently (most of the time), and sticking to speed limits (100 to 110 kph)

 

I was pretty happy as it's the best I have ever done.

Theoretically close to 550 Km on a tank but not game to let it get that low. (55 Ltr tank i believe?)
I chickened out at 454Km on the way home and put 10L in (91 oct was all they had)  while I still had 64 K to go.
