G'day HYP04..

This elderly or is that mature bloke has just sold the Mirage to a younger fella down in Jemboomba. I bought the Mirage to have a drive in the 6 Hour Relay down at Phillip Island that was run last weekend but unfortunately, the team I was in didn't make the cut and since I am not really into sprints or hillclimbing it was better to sell it to someone that is going to use it for some track work fun.

Btw, I am 61 years young and still like fast cars..

Cheers...
It was a fun weekend, only drove the evo 800mtrs in 7months, so was a bit of a learning curve.
Was surprised how well it handled and how much oversteer it had under power out of corners.
Just need to get my butt into gear to get my latest trailer finished and out of the shed to get the coilovers installed before Pittsworth Sprints.

Great looking ride & impressive list.

Its slowly getting there, just after a few more. This year is more about getting a solid package and fine tuning the handling with a boost in power levels.
Do you have any tips or tricks with your experience with the ECM?

With the ECM and a couple of bolt ons, Im hoping for around 190KW@wheels, nothing over the top, anymore than that from a basic setup would be a bonus.
The feeling of oversteer in an EVO is a bit strange, and not what you'd normally expect. Coilovers are going in next week, so hopefully get dial-out a little of the oversteer in exchange for some good drive of the corner. But still like the progressive controlled feeling the car has at the moment. Just need to find a middle ground.

I have been playing with the ecm for a couple years now & its actually getting easier with the later version.

If you have any questions ask & hopefully I can answer for you.

For a quick guide got to the site & the is a video section that run through basic set up.

They are a great product thyat imporves all the time. They just added boost controll to the program last week. Awsome.

Thomas & Dave at ECMlink are also greatly helpfull. Customer service is best i have ever delt with. Good luck with it & have fun.

I'll be at Dynotunz Brownsplain next Thursday if you get board.
Plan is to get a base figure than start on the install and piping. Then tune late afternoon.

very nice ride and 44 is my favourite number :)

Cheers, it'd be nice if i could keep the same number for each event.

How'd the guys @ Dyno Tunz go tuning the ecmlink?

I might have to pop over hand have a chat to them.

The tuner seems to very easy to talk to & the prices seem fantastic.

I ended up with 196kw at all fours from 130kw standard. With near close to double the tractive effort accross the rev range.
Full boost at 3800rpm.
Mods to engine now ECM Lite, speed density package, 3" straight "threw" exhaust, 20psi.
Standard turbo/intercooler/manifolds/injectors still in place,
Thanks for your time with a few things Scott, helped alot and saved quite a lot of time just on the set up.

Only thing not done is the launch control/antilag set up. For some reason the ECU isnt picking up a speedo signal, not sure if i need to change any pin outs or a cable issue somewhere? so i'll will look into that after Pittsworth sprints when i bring it back to Gladstone. Currently the EVO is left at Dynotunz. Till i pick it up on my way threw to race in 2 weeks.

Thanks to Brennon and Vonny at Dynotunz Brownsplains 38004940 good power gain ands service. Highly recomend for tuning and workshop services

Heres a copy of the dyno sheet.
Standard and last run, We did go over 200 a couple of times but felt happy to back if down a tad.
Quite happy with the results, with basically a standard palatform with minimal bolt on mods.

Unfortunately the suspitions of a what sounded like a slipping clutch on the Dyno were true. Raced at Pittsworth Sprints to find i couldnt load the the drivetrain up and drive with the lower down torque to get some quicker times, instead down shifting and using the revs before the clutch would slip. 4th gear by the end of the weekend was stuggling to grip up and 3rd if i drove it out low down.
But still 56.34sec on the new layout and finished 8th out 15 or 5th if you count 3 competitors who didnt complete the 75%. So overall happy, coilovers handled well.

So with the help of CBGSR (brenno) we changed out the clutch last weekend with an Exedy cushion button (still need to drive the car into trailer) and a Fidanza Alluminium Flywheel, only a breif run a couple of times up the road and it rev'ed out well and gear changed/hooked up nicely. Will try and get the EVOIII back to the Dyno to check out and change in responce. Only thing we had to do was place a washer under the pivot ball which Brenno had found from previous experience with 4g's.

Will add picks later

Exedy cushion button clutch and Fidanza flywheel.
From about 300mtrs of testing, quite happy with how it feels, once my strut issue is soughted. Will be taking for a good run.
