Just spotted a bit of blitz going on up the road from work. They seem to be taking pics of cars and doing bretho's and RWC checks. Probably a good idea to avoid.
Address is roughly 670 Spingvale Rd, Mulgrave... just the north side of Wellington Rd.

As time goes by, even a slightly modded import is considered very dangerous that it gets a lot of attention from the coppers, compared to old ugly fart cans like holden and ford, even the new ones, they are noisy as stockies (the V8's).
Probably very quiet exhaust system like fujitsubo is not anyway near legal anymore, we have to run the cute little 1.5" pipe so it's not look fast anymore.
And probably our kids will have their car EPA'd for air freshener, it contains chemical, very dangerous to environment, especially with the window open! WTF!!
FUCK THE REVENUE RAISING!! GOVT JUST NEED TO ADMIT THAT IT'S NOTHING, FUCKING NOTHING ABOUT SAFETY, IT'S ABOUT MONEY, REVENUE RAISING!!

Time to get Engineered!
That wont stop cops giving you defects! All it does is help you clear the defect faster.
My theory is, dont hold back on the mods but make sure you keep all the stock item for if (WHEN) a smart ass member of the 'SAFETY SQUAD' spots all my 'DANGEROUS TO THE POINT OF TERRORISM' mods I can convert back to 'SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE' levels quick smart!

If they see an item which is 'non-standard' or 'does not comply with code xxxx' its is up to their discretion to defect you or not.
That yellow sticker doesn't actually mean your car is defected. It just means that the cop THINKS that your car is defectable and you are to prove them otherwise by clearing that defect.
Now this is where the controversy lies. Say your car is fully engineered. You have spent time and money getting your car to a safe, acceptable and legal level.
A cop comes along who had a bad day and gives you an EPA. You have to now waste YOUR time and YOUR money proving that your car is indeed roadworthy and legal.
So if you do pass the test, why the FFFFUK should you have to pay it? You knew, and so did the engineer who tested your vehicle, that your car would pass the test.
If there was a system where you can get a refund after PROVING that your car is indeed roadworthy and legal that would be fair.
But at the current state of things, its plain daylight robbery.

Barry, the problem here is that the cops themselves are not engineers. So they can't differentiate the difference between engineered items and non-engineered items.

You sir are speaking the truth there, the fact that you can be penalised for something that is not illegal sucks big time, but I guess its just the game we play. I guess if we all pitch in and try and keep everyone informed of where they are we can try and minimise the impact.

I completely agree. But on the other hand, if everything is done by the books and you were driving it completely normally (no burnouts etc etc) then there is a fair chance that they'll show you some respect for your attempt to keep things legit.
I recall somewhere that they now have a database / records etc etc of each vehicle.
The only problem with engineering is the emissions testing which is insanely expensive in Vic. In NSW it is free I believe! I'm considering towing both cars up there and getting the emissions tested there with a valid report passing the cars and then getting the mechanical engineering signed off down in VIC.
