hey fellas,G'day ya all..found this site while browsing google..Well im a big car freak with no money in the pocket..i've being driving my 94 lancer cc gl since 2008..Never had any kinda trouble with this small cutie..all of sudden i fell in love with it..Here are some pictures of it..cheers..

Dane's right - it's a serious addiction!! You've started on a very rocky and turbulent path....

Mine started out as a stock as a rock 1.5 carby "pocket rocket". Spent a tonne on custom extractors, exhaust, air intake, porting the head etc. It sounded ace - but to put it bluntly - in regards to power - it was polishing a turd.

Focus your $$$ on suspension first and foremost IMO - springs, shocks, swaybars, strut braces, then perhaps look at colour matching the front and rear bumpers, door handles etc. There's a tonne of modifications you can do yourself to customise it to how you want it without having to rely on a workshop or spend big money to do so.

One of the things I did to my front bumper when it had the Coupe front end on it, was to cut out the areas where the front foglights usually go and mesh them up. Pretty easy job and if you take your time to do it neat it looks really good.

If you can score a set of EVO seats - they bolt straight in and instantly tranform how the car feels when you're driving it - very worthwhile upgrade IMO.

The day I picked mine up, I went over to autobarn and spent thousands on all the fancy bits n pieces, only to find out that you can save so much by shopping around and doing things yourself!!
What are you plans for this?

i was about to sell this.but after seen what you guys have done to your cars,i changed my mind..this pic was taken 8months ago.now i have upgraded it to leather seats,neons,after market K&N air filter.actually i have done nothing to improve the performence yet,except the air filter..i have many things to ask from you guys as i new to this..i dont know where to start....have an idea to get a body kit from ebay..btw how much would cost me to put extractors???

I don't mean this in an offensive way, but if you want extractors for more power, why don't you save the money and try pick up a neat gsr?

That way it'll be much faster, and you have more potential to keep going later down the track if you wish.

ya i thought of that mate..i was about to buy a FTO.to be honest im not a really big fan of sedans.i love the shape of this cc coupe.but ill consider about it twice..i ve just replaced a new timing belt though..anywayz thanx for all of your ideas and encouragements..

you could always go the 4g63 option. You don't need an engineers report for the CC coupe! and bang for buck it is unbeatable as far as upgrades go!!!

You certainly do!! The coupe body was never sold by Mitsu with a 4G63T, so an Engineer's certificate is a must.

you don't. the coupe and the sedan share the same code 'CC Lancer'. The Vicroads database does not differentiate the 2 as far as Vicroads are concerned. All you need is a note from the workshop fitting it stating that they have fitted 'an engine optional to that make/model of car'... I love loopholes! same as the loophole that allows me to have a completely remodelled rear end without an engineers cert either as well as my red indicators on the rear!
I have a 4G63 in my coupe, all cleared by Vicroads, without an engineers cert, inspected by several police officers. They have never questioned the motor, but will defect you for anything else they feel like, regardless of how legal they are.
I was arguing for 45 mins last time over the legal placement of a number plate... They also tried telling me that an ipod was illegal (before the law change that did make them illegal).

e-bay would be your best bet mate. They're pretty easy to make if you have access to a welder.

In Australia - the CC Lancer was never optioned with a 4G63 engine. Therefore a CC Lancer with a 4G63 engine and the supporting modifications (suspension, brakes, etc) has not been tested by Mitsubishi to comply with our ADR regulations.

A 4G63T is also not "similar in power, weight and emission standards" as the orignial engine fitted to a CC Lancer here in Aust (ie a 4G15 or 4G93).

Therefore a CC Lancer with a 4G63T is not an approved vehicle for use on our roads without an engineer's certificate.

I am familiar with the documentation, which is what makes this a loophole... I am not saying its morally right; simply put its dodgy... but it works whether you or I, or the mechanic down the road agrees with it.
The only reason I can get away with it is due to Mitsubishi failing to specify that the CC Lancer sedan, and the CC Lancer coupe are 2 different cars, instead they have listed it as an optional variation on the CC Lancer platforn to have it as a sedan, coupe, liftback, or station wagon. This means that as far as Vicroads are concerned, the 'CC Lancer' came with a 4G63T as the Evoloution variant... much like Falcons with the Falcon 6cyl station wagon sharing the details of the GTHO allowing many ppl to put 351 motors in without any question. This means that as far as thier records show, the coupe was 'available' with a 4G63T even though we know that it was not!
I know you need to upgrade brakes and suspension to specifications, which is why I used the ones from the front cut to upgrade mine, saving money... after that it was as simple as going to Vicroads, filling out a form, showing them a note from the mechanic saying that they- as a professional mechanic fitted the motor, having them check the engine number, then sticking my new rego sticker on my windscreen.
So 'technically' it is 'legal', and possible to do without an engineers certificate, as long as you go about it in the right way!
