hey fellas Im a newbie to mitsis ( well i had a evo years ago but was low ks, standard and had no trouble) I have just brought a gsr as a daily and it seems to blow white smoke on idle and at low revs I have done a search but nothing really stood out to be the same prob as mine, The engine runs fine and goes well just smoke is really annoying. Is it time for an engine swap or are there sum other issues It could have?
engine has done 270000

cheers

That'll just about be your reason, especially if you have to top the engine up with oil often.
Get a compression test done to check each cylinder and then you'll know where you stand.

If the high k's gsr has had 272 cams put in it without changing the valve stem
seals, the extra valve travel will cause the seals to hit the dirty part of the
valve stem..A misstake I made <_< when getting 272s put in mine.
Sit idling in traffic & watching white smoke poaring out is embarising
And I'm talking about a 80k motor, not a 270k.
Did a compression test = All 180..Must be my turbo..No, valve stem seals.
Just thought I'd throw this in & admit to learning from my own misstakes.
Cheers !

I never considered that when doing my cams as i didn't do springs or anything either as the bc272's are meant to be ok with stock springs as they don't have massive lift.

I haven't noticed any smoke but i'm gonna keep an eye on it now.

Similar here..My cams are the 264-10.3 lift & the 272-9.8 lift with Evo springs.
HKS 264 inlet cams can be 10.8mm or 10.3mm lift
HKS 272 exhaust cams can be 10.2mm or 9.8mm lift
Just my bad luck I guess that my valve stems were dirty/gritty
Cheers !
