I went from big custom FMIC with ghey custom piping setting up, to Evo 6 FMIC with Meek piping kit.. much happier. Thje Evo 6 intercooler is a VERY tight fit behind the Evo 3 bar so I would recommend Evo 1-3 cooler over that. Plenty for what you got. Evo 6 is only rated slightly more hp than the early ones.
Meek also sell brand new intercooler with piping kit for $600 that Chris swears by.

Id have to agree with rob here, You can pick up a good condition j-spec vr4 cooler for say 150-200. An evo 1-3 cooler you pay heaps more. Its not hard to weld a few brackets on or drill a hole, weld a nut over it and screw into that on the car.A J-spec VR4 cooler will be heaps for a street 93t and cheaper too, hardly worth paying triple just for an Evo unit.
As many piping kits have larger piping and so does the stock evo piping, get larger in and out piped welded on, shouldn't cost much, probably about the same or not much more than the difference in price of in strait silicon joins to more expensive reducers.
It'll easily flow and cool what the rods in you stock 4g93 motor take before they bend. Then if you want to get serious with the motor go to the effort of putting a late model evo cooler in.
Another idea, a bloke be here in Perth ran a mid to low 12 (cant remember exact time) in his daily gsr with an ebay cooler and piping kit, and parts he had lying around, 510's, 16g, evo ecu and not much else. Dunno if hes on here much but he or someone who talks to him more might pipe up top which kit he bought.
Mind you the motor did pop eventually, but before that it was leaning out on the dyno to, i don't know the rest of the story. But the moral of the story is how quick these can go with basic stuff, and keep the tune rich and save it for a bit.

Plazmaman now sells the meek designed piping kit through his biz now too.

i got one of these kits from chris and its fu*king awesome. it runs the HKS piping which is 60mm and a HKS intercooler (identicle to factory, even uses original rubber mounts) the only letdown is the ends on the intercooler are 2in, but chris does supply the 63mm ends which need to be welded on, yet on the turn side it looks very well constructed and the tube and fin core looks very flow worthy... all in all im happy with it and im going to be pushing 200kw + 100shot N20...
i build custom turbo kits every day, so i dont normaly endorse another persons equipment but by far this is one of the better kits ive seen without spending over 1.5k and i would go as far to say its not far from a plazmaman kit. i considered making my own, but at the price i could not justify making my own kit, and i never use sub quality components on any cars

Looks exactly the same as the new meek kit, albeit half the price.

I am currently putting a 63t into my proton satria, currently have a custom intercooler that was made for the 61t that was in the proton before. The dimensions of the intercooler I have now are 400x280x80 I'm trying to work out if I need the evo 3 cooler, the total volume of my current cooler is larger than the evo 3 but not sure on how you size up intercoolers, do you go by volume? I know it's got something to do with flow and how efficient it flows aswell. Can anyone please tell me if my current intercooler is big enough for the 63t that i'm putting into my proton? Aiming for just over 200kw atw
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm trying to work out if I need to upgrade my intercooler but don't know how to size up intercoolers, so hopefully someone on here will be able to help me.

You would size up a cooler depending on it's volume and front sectional area (the area which is in direct contact with cold air for heat transfer). You also will need to looks at fin heat dissipation efficiency.
Your custom cooler will not have the same internal volume as an OEM evo1-3 cooler because evo coolers are closer to 600x300x80 size.
Also, depending on what type of cooler your is (likely an ebay item), it would not be as efficient as a stock evo cooler.
All in all, if you get an OEM evo1-3 cooler setup you are guaranteed quality, good fitment (even in the satria), efficiency (less lag) and it will definitely be rated to at least 200kw at all 4 (around 230 fwkw). It's been done time and time again.
