Hmm... I doubt you can find one for that price mate.

Anyway, did you want the turbo / manifolds etc etc?

Baz, he's after an engine to suit a rebuild. It shoulden't be too hard to find since full forged engines don't even sell for $1600 these days, lol.

Phaser (Pete) just sold one for $500

That's a different story.
A dead engine vs a good working engine with all the bits.

Hey Jerome, do the Na's have the oil squirters for the wrist pins?

you will need to machine the NA ones to fit the squirters.
They have the boss for it, but not hole / thread.

Hahaha

Perhaps this question would be helpful to the O.P as well, but would you guys recommend rebuilding a 'performance' engine based on the N/A block? i.e without the oil squirters.

I am currently doing as above. I was initially a bit iffy about not having them, but I asked a few people the question and they basically tell me that it would be fine.
I've sorta started putting the thing together, but if someone in the know *looks at Jay and Baz* were to flag it up as a big no-no or something, I'd probably reconsider and bore out my damaged VR4 block and use that instead.
I've found a place to screw the knock sensor into so its really just the squirters (or lack thereof) I was worried about.

Cheers

Using an Na block will provide more oil pressure to the crank bearings. This could be a benifit to some users.

Thanks trq-str, I thought I'd have excess oil pressure (does anyone know what is too much btw?) in using a block without squirters and balance shaft elim. kit, so I've slightly 'ported' the oil filter housing. What is your opinion on building an engine that will see >20psi @ ~ 7,500RPM without oil squirters? Obviously it is beneficial to have them, but do you think the 4G63 could cope without them? MMC put them in for a reason, but they also never planned to shove those boost levels down it or rev it to those number either...so would the engine be going out of the tolerance levels they were engineered to withstand?
Or maybe a better way to put it - all other things being equal (AFR etc.) at those sort of pressures, do you think squirters would play a fair part in preventing damage to the pistons/cylinder wall?
Lol, maybe I should start a new thread. I'm just trying to convince myself that the engine will be fine without them because I don't want to start again.

Keep in mind with high oil pressure, you could effectively wash away the oil off the bearings which may cause more damage.

There is a big discussion on the US site about high pressure and photos of bearing damage due to this.

Also, I've looked at the no squirter option also on my 2.4L block. I had a chat with the guy who made my pistons and he told me that with all the motors with squirters, the pistons always looks nice and clean (below). But the pistons without always have discolouring due to the heat. Since he was making these pistons for me, he wanted me to get the squirters put into the block so I did.

If it is a street car, I say do it. If race only (meth inj etc etc), it might not hurt to leave them out due to the colder cylinder temps.

It is the heat generated by turbo engines that make them a requirement imo.
And for $200.00 or so worth of machining I can't see why not to put them in.

~$200 you reckon hey Baz? Might go that way afterall mate. I'll hit up my machinist.
It is a street car so no exotic fuels will be used and it has bugged me for so long seeing the block without them. I think I'll just bite the bullet.

Thanks Baz, always coming forward with good info :)
