Hey guys. I am in desperate need of an alternator. I note that the list shows ANJ562 as being the replacement code.
However, given that this is my daily I am hoping that the alternator for an HSGR is interchangable with a more common car, lancer or whatever, so that I can find an appropriate solution quickly...
Thanks in advance. Cheers.

My god youre quick Jamo....
Was really hoping to get something quick from local wrecker and then order new. Any common models share the same alternator that anyone can think of?

Yeah, I spoke to Bennny. He has a spare SSG one but apparently is totally different to the HSGR alternator....
Bugger. I wont be able to get a pic until this afternoon after work unfortunately.

MXA228 is the alternator I have on my HSG which is an OEX Brand of alternator. When i look up the listing for RVR HSG on my computer at work I come up with:

R$600 MXA228 is an OEX brand of alternator and cross references to a Bosch Part number and doesn't specifically say what else its listed to suit

R$480 BXM1207 is a Bosch brand of alternator and says it suits Hyundai Lantra 91-95 1.6L 1.8L Senata 96-98 2.0L, Mitsubishi Nimbus 91-98 2.4 and Lancer 88-92

R$600 ANJ562 is a JAS Oceania brand of alternator and says it suits Mitsubishi Challeneger 4wd 09-18 2wd 11-13 Lancer Evo 123456789 Outlander 02-04 RVR 94-02 Triton  GLR GLX 08-11

I can confirm that a MXA228 will work on a HSG as I have one fitted to my car but as for the other two part numbers I've never used them first hand, so I can't say 100% but if they're listed to suit the application I'd say they have a 95%+ chance of doing the job.

The difference is the plug for the hyundai/nimbus alternators. Same physical shape but different plugs. Havent had a challenger one in front of me to confirm. Which is a shame cause i can get brand new genex alternators through work for 150ish bucks.

Update. I had no transport yesterday and it gave me the shits to no end. So I went to the local wreckers and sorted through bins of mitsubishi and Hyundai alternators.
Outcome is that a J2 (series2) Lantra fits pretty damn good and now all is well with 14+v at idle.

Spacewagon Chariot/Grandis have the same alternator as RVR

Came across a couple of these and the bracket locator holes are different orientation. Must be like the ssg models.
Thanks for your input either way Jamo, appreciate it mate. To everyone else also, thank you.

Btw, when looking at the sticker on the alternator there is an MD number and below that is an "A" with numbers following. Appears to me that this number is either a 2 or 3 (with those that I saw) and signifies the bracket locator orientation. If you drew a line from top to bottom bracket hole a "2" is almost above the pulley line, like a gsr type, and "3" the line goes just on the edge of the pulley nut, which is what I needed.
Random info...
