Whats the lag like on the 20g man?
LAG or Boost threshold? We dont want the punters to get these 2 similar terms mixed up (Maybe a tech sticky somewhere about it?)
Not as bad as I thought though however. Still not as good as a small or big 16G so it is a compromise between that and more power.
I would say it starts boosting up at between 2500-3000 with full boost between 4500-5000. (Boost threshold)
I havnt really looked at it too much because when it hits it hits hard, hence its an "animal on the highway" comment.
But when changing gears fast to 7-7500rpm it just hits the full boost straight away with the next gear. So LAG is minimal between gear changes.

Its been a while since an update so it seems like a continuing trend with me lately.
After having the new turbo installed the car was travelling pretty good but the newfound power it seems wasnt being handled by the clutch. It had started to slip at a drag meet at the 4th gear change and it got progressively worse from ther up until Aug when I just couldnt drive it to work anymore due to having to rev it over 5000rpm to get it going anywhere. Any slight tough of the accl pedal in low revs or cruising just spun it up/revs forward etc...
I took the car apart in the garage and took the clutch and flywheel off and it was well worn down with some grand canyon rivalling gouges
I ordered an NPC clutch that could handle 3500LB and had a carbotic clutch disc maded up and I got it sprung this time.
While that was waiting to arrive, I took 2 spare flywheels in to work and had them machined up. Unfortunately the pins did not want to come out. they had to be drilled out and the drill did move around a bit due to the hardened steel! The pin holes were bored out a bit and new pins turned up to press fit.
Out of the 2 flywheels, one was really good for a carbotic material disc and the other still had a bit of evidence from some heat spots and will only be good for an organic clutch type to handle that load.
Also during the downtime of waiting for the clutch (and save the cash$$) I pulled the engine out as I was chasing a coolant leak near the water pump and some oil leaks around the rocker cover/ cam seals. Replaced them all and metal filled a rocker cover crack and now the nicely machined flywheel and clutch are installed and the engine back in the engine bay.
My next thing to do before I put the aircon compressor and PS pump back on (easier to leave them attached but out of the way) is to heat wrap the dump pipe and down pipe which I had made up at the start of the year with my Cat install.
Ill throw some pics up:

This is the email I got from Doug Kordis from NPC:
Hi Dane,
I would recommend our heavy duty sprung center organic kit at your power level. (220kw I said) $533.50 inc gst for the complete kit. This style of clutch will still retain a factory like feel & be forgiving on the driveline.
If your set on the 3500 sprung button kit than that’s no problem if you want me to make one $645 inc gst.
$33 for freight I think it was.
Like I said to Doug in another email my car shredded organic clutchs way before this level of power with daily driving and competition (drags, sprints etc...)
Im not too worried about being forgiving on the driveline at all
Ill try and find the pics of the clutch before I put it on.

OK its been a while since the last update!
So I got the car going in Jan this year after we got back from holidays and all was good until one morning on my way to drop the oldest at childcare, It blew up!
All I did was cruising at 60 in a 70 zone behind a slow ass car and when the road splits before a traffic light I dropped back to 3rd and punched it but not too much because it only hit about 4-4500rpm whilst the turbo was spooling up and a big bang and smoke pouring out from behind and out of the bonnet. Oil everywhere and a dejected bloke standing on the side of the road.
Fast forward to today, I've had the engine and gearbox out again and after having a closer look I found 4 holes in the block and 2 holes in the sump where rod/piston NO.4 let go and No.3 cracked the block where its started to let go. Where the rod went totally around clockwise in the block and punched through the sump twice, it hit the starter motor and punched a hole/crack in the transfer case which I didnt notice till I pulled it off and left it attached on the floor and the next day oil around it.
OH I tried something different and dropped the whole motor down onto the floor and lifted the whole car up and rolled the engine out on an old creeper!
I have started to get the forged block ready to go whilst swapping most things over to it and cleaning oil off said parts.
My major hurdle is time and money with the 2 kids and various bills to pay as most of you can sympathise with.
Make sure you check out my poll about the rocker cover colour in the tech section and vote!
