Its been AGES since I updated this and heaps has gone on.
After my accomplishments in mid Nov 06 we chucked on the tail sniffer with wide band to check AFR's and were shocked to find that the fuel pump was running out of puff and leaning out the engine to Exactly 12:1 @15psi(gauge was wrong and it was really only on 12.8psi) which means i ran the 12.5 on only 12.8psi  and the turbo was measured and found to be a REAL small 16g not a big 16g as originally told....another
Anyway I bought an ebay walbro from member Udogg and proceeded to install it with mixed results. We couldnt get the fuel pump feed pipe on the cradle undone. I finally got it undone then a certain member broke it
Anyway it went to a local business to get fixed while I sourced a new cradle from Jarred(gsrwrc) in NZ. The cradle that was fixed, failed due to them using a slightly smaller diameter brake pipe and it was lucky that Jarred found one for me.
With the new cradle and fuel pump in place the car developed a new problem. It had way too much fuel delivery and was running less than 9:1 AFR and was struggling to get anywhere.
At this stage I also installed a remote oil filter(not a Z411 I now run the big arse Z9's at $6.25 a pop ) and B&M oil cooler and chucked on the Genuine Evo bonnet.
We then installed an Adaptronic ECU with a custom loom and tuned it back to a safe 11.3:1-12:1 AFR.
I entered into the local sprint series and ran low 46 second times in the 4WD class(low 40's were being run by a hypo GTR and RSEA in his Tommi Maak) but with the last 2 runs of the night the car was overboosting to just over 15psi and hitting boost cut out of the corners.

I turned my attention to making up a custom airbox and shorter inlet pipe for it, since I had removed the battery to the boot prior to the start of the sprint series. I got myself some cardboard and started making a template.
I scored a 1mx1m sheet of aluminium from a local forum member and cut it out and put it together.I also bought some 2 1/2 inch stainless piping bends and straights from a local stainless supplier and went to work on the intake pipe. Another forum member welded it for me and I had recieved the red silicone joiners.
I recieved a few more goodies in the mail. My genuine Evo3 bumper complete WITH LIP arrived as well as my ebay amber lights.
With the installation of the short intake route and airbox giving me a faster and better spool up and less restriction bred a new problem. OVERBOOST!
Even though I still had a 17psi boost cut written into the ecu, it was hitting it so frequently it was a pain to drive. Even the Turbotech wasnt stopping it, so I spent months and months of asking questions and doing many late night research into this overboost problem.
Most people seemed to think it was either a dump pipe problem or a wastegate hole size. Not letting enough gas out in a hurry after the actuator opened seemed the key.
I had changed over 4 different actuators including 2 vr4's(7psi) 1 Evo1 RS(10psi) and even an Evo3 actuator(11-12psi) and nothing solved it. I even wired open the wastegate and it STILL made boost @ 5000RPM then proceeded to overboost at about 1000rpm past that point
I then got offered a solution, I bought a less than 5000km Genuine E3 Big 16G with 34mm wastegate mod done by extremem psi off a forum member down south. I thought yup there will be a bit higher boost threshold and a bit more lag but maybe just maybe with the 34mm gate it will flow more.
NOPE no go. So I purchased a punishment racing mini twin dump pipe to replace my ported vr4 dump. I fitted it and...nothing!
So now it was really pissing me off! Plant the foot wait a bit, get about 10 psi until 5500 rpm them bamm! Over boost shooting straight to boost cut. I had to rely on the feeling/sound of the car and the boost gauge(which i had replaced to a more accurate one after the previous crap) to gauge when it would be necessary to back off the throttle to prevent the overboost.
The Turbotech wasnt doing its job and it didnt matter if i had a controller on it or not it would still overboost
I decided that I would port out the old small 16g and reinstall it on the car, after I found a great article on a dsm site that dealt with overboost and found out that if I removed the material from behind the flapper I could get it to open a full 90 Degrees(instead of my measured 70 Degrees). Also if I removed some of the metal from near the inlet to the wastegate port it would help the gas flow out of the turbo when the actuator opens. http://www.dsmtuners...ep-porting.html
With some work and measurement of the compressor/turbine wheels, I found out it was infact a real small 16g from an aftermarket company in the states that only had a 31mm flapper and 22.4mm port size (wastegate hole)instead of the 34mm flapper and 26mm port size(and BIG 16G  ) I originally was told(and/or the previous owner was told).
...........................................................................Crappy pic but its the only one i have of the old 70DEG angle
.................................................................................................LOL im short! Note the Evo 1 rims and Korean safety boots

I wired and plumbed it into my system and we set about sorting the problems out. We put on 140kms of road tuning on a open quiet section of Highway out west, testing boost settings with second, third, and fourth gear runs. The Big 16 hauls arse when opened up and wacks you back in the seat But it still wouldnt hold boost well at all and either wanted to over boost or underboost with the slightest twitch of the settings.
I missed the drags that Sat night but attended the next week, with dissapointing results. I could only manage 14's and with the change from second to third gear on 1.0Bar, it only would boost up to 0.5Bar( 0.7 if that  ) and only the same into 4th. The weird thing is that on the ruturn road back to the pits the thing would hit full boost (1.0Bar) in second and third
Next Sat I went back to the drags and put on the Turbosmart MBC and cranked it up in stages and still couldnt get anything stable. I ripped it off and put the Turbotech back on and got it back a bit better with mid to high 13's with a bit more boost in third and 4th. Still not good enough though.
I got sick of the Evo8MR BOV flopping around freely in atmo mode, so I got some 1 1/4 inch stainless steel and took it to Tim 86psi's place and got my intake fully finished with BOV adapted and 2 intake fittings put on for breathers for a catch can in the future.
I also decided to put the small 16g compressor housing and centre cartridge back on to the car but kept the big 16g turbine housing with the upgraded 34mm gate, just to try something different. It spools up quicker now and I no longer have overboost problems, but however have underboost at the drags still and very occasionally on the street but most of the time its just in third.
An interesting point to note is the difference between the small 16g's turbine housings dump exit and the E1 Rs big 16g's turbine housings dump outlet. While they have both got 070 stamped in them you can clearly see that the small 16g is definately smaller. The E3 Big 16g has a slightly bigger outlet as well and is further tapered on the exit.
With the Turbotech on and the turbo change I went to the drags again and ran 13.6's, then got 2 runs with 1.0Bar boost in third but not 4th and ran 13.2's@102.
I had a rocker cover/sparkplug gasket leak, so i bought a kit off meek and fitted it at the same time as the turbo change. While off I decided to brighten up the engine bay and degrease it a little, so I bought some Bright red VHT paint and painted the rocker cover.
Im now currently waiting on a vacuum manifold so I can have more reference points for my various boost sources. In particular I want to run the boost control from the manifold instead of the J pipe for more acurate readings. Also to come is a catch can, Evo 7,8,9 Intercooler I scored for $165 Delivered, construct a removable lid for my airbox to further drop intake temps down. When im Back from overseas I want to put on coilovers, upgraded brakes, a nice set of white 17 inch rims, a respray and start a next project
Hope you enjoy reading all of this and hope to hear some good and helpful comments and maybe some problem solving suggestions

throw a exhaust mani top heat shield on at least and heat wrap the over mani pipe that definitely wont be helping air temp as stainless holds heat so your actually adding extra heat to your air temps the way it is at the mo.
There's nothing like doing it your self props for keeping your nose on the grind stone.
Thanks.
I did previously have the intercooler pipe heat wrapped, then I started the latest round of mods which included removing it and I still havnt finished
As in an earlier post in this thread I had stated that the "AT LEAST 1M shorter route" netted me 1/2 second off my 1/4 mile with no other mods.
Of course heat wrapped and heat sheild would be a huge advantage, but my intercooler is always very cold on the exit side so it cant be hurting it too much.
Ill look into it further anyway
so many hours have been spent bottling over, under, on top, in, out around this car, all work has been done by the danes dodgey deals and rare spares garage, your commitment is inspiring dude, keep up the good work you'll get there in the end, and im only to happy to lend a hand whenever ya need it.
Thanks Nev
Its "Dane and Daves dodgy deals and rare spares" well was...
Its just T4G Performance now Daves the dodgy one

Here is footage of my 2nd time around out of 5.
The Commentator didnt know shit all day really "EVO" ....also GTRs that were RWD, skyline RWD's that were either FWD or RWD
Oh well least he was doing something....
I understeered like a bitch all day but i learnt a lot! My boost was fairly good too.
I need Brakes, suspension for sure(note the sagging drivers side by a inch  ) and some dedicated track tyres.
I already have some tasty rims lined up after a nice fresh coat of paint and tyres, they will become my daily rims while those 15 inch OZ Chronos will be my track rims.
Enjoy!
