Seems like the bug has bitten. It's more fun than going in a straight line isn't it.
Is that the go kart track you were telling me about?

YUP/NO/YUP

I still like the straight line

Well after a productive weekend, I have a smile ear to ear! :D

I seem to have FINALLY fixed my long standing boost problems 8)
I also loomed up all my wiring which was just hanging around :P
Fitted my catch can too.......

Before:

Heres what I have done:

Bought some split conduit and a shitload of elecy tape and went to town on them wires. Believe it or not it is quite time consuming, esp for a short arse like me who finds it hard to reach the middle of the car

Boost problem.... I believed it to be a problem not having enough ports coming out of the stock plenum and throttle body for everything you need. Especially when you have the Actuator/MBC source out of the J pipe. My theory was that the fluctuations and close proximity to the turbo outlet was too inaccurate for a good base. With having a BOV with its own VAC source and various other items that needed their own such sources led me to hunt after an alternative. (BOV/ MBC OR EBC To Actuator/MAP sensor/ Boost gauge/ FPR/ 2 VAC sources for the carbon cannister off the top of the throttle body/ PCV valve in lower plenum runner/ and the Vac line for the Brake Booster) Thats 9 Items and only 6 ports to do it all.

I did look into tapping into the plenum but was told by the fitters that the walls were too thin to house the threads of a 1/8th NPT fitting barb.

First I spent 6 months tracking one of these down ( The first seller in the end wouldnt send me the item after I paid...that took 4 months! Got my money back in less than a day  )
http://cgi.ebay.com/...em=190222477026

Finally got that in the post last week. Had the 6 ports drilled out by the fitter at work (precision pedestill drill needed  ) and fitted the parts that came with it. Also had to make a custom bracket so I could use 2 of the original bolt holes in the firewall, instead of making more holes again! ( note the 2 holes in my chassis number from one of the previous fools who owned the car and thought it was a great idea to mount the alarm there  )

Now with that plumbed in I now have everything with its own source! :D

I also blocked off the J pipe fitting.

So now with the boost signal coming from after the cooler, hence after the throttle body, the MAP/Boost gauge and actuator(MBC) all see the exact same reading after the intercoolers pressure drop.

The finished install:

Posted Image

On the road the car Farkin flys with almost instant boost response and no more shitty low boost with quick gear changes like I used to( Especially at the drags where I was only getting 0.8BAR :( ) I now get a MINIMUM of 1.0BAR after every gear after a short initial spike of about 1.4 BAR and settles quickly down to an average of 1.2BAR. Tonight I actually hit 1.3 BAR in the cold air! :D

Cant wait for the Winter classic at the drags this Sat $2000 first prize and hopefully low 12's await!

To be continued................

ok so for a low 12 second strip car, what would an average 0-100 time be?

Anywhere in the 4-5 second range isnt out of the question.... CONSIDERING that the 2008 Porsche 997 911 GT2 does 0-60 mph (97 KM/h) at 3.4 seconds, and 11.4 seconds at 127.9 mph (205.8 km/h) for the quarter mile.

Wish i had a Porsche sometimes :P

Dream is over!

Engine is dead!

Too tired now to explain!

Most shit is off the engine, just a little to go then ill remove the box/engine in one unit this week.

On a more positive note Joshs vr4 is almost a goer!

NO!

I have 4 engines available to me.

Only thing is, one is in Cairns, one in sydney at my dads, a spare block in the garage and the spare head in Brissy. Mine of course for parts depending on whats still good..........A proton 93 is also avaialable too.......

Decisions...................

Hmmmm.

Long time between drinks:(

Ok, after much much time fucking around and trying to make decisions on what to do and amassing an arsenal (:P) of 4g93t parts. I'm putting together a stock engine to last me between 6 and 12 months.

The first engine I acquired was nearly seized due to oil problems and the mains and thrust bearings were almost non existant with the crank farked too!:( The same head isnt crash hot but would probably last 6 months if I wanted it too.

2nd and 3rd engines were from my dads house in Sydney with one being in pieces and the other one mainly together, but requiring a new head gasket and a few other issues sorted. Mainly a bit of detonation in NO.1 cyl.
That engine has been pulled down and checked and looks fine to continue for the next year.

The other remaining blocks and other hardware will be used to build a voodoo gumbo of a strong engine for the remainder of 2009.

Hopefully 2009 will be a brighter year for me!:)

Laters.......

Finally got everything together after sourcing all the parts and tracking down a crossmember and passenger side engine mount which arrived today!

Still after some CP pistons for mates rates(waiting on 2 calls!)for the forged engine for the 2nd half of the year. Might have a bit of a suprise to come if all goes well!

So between the little time Ive had in the last few days of excitement(see the intro of my son thread;)) and work I finally got the engine mount in and dropped the engine down, bolted it up and chocked it underneath with jack stand and jack!

In the down time waiting for the engine mount, ive mounted up my evo8 intercooler!

I hope to get more done during the week and this weekend!
